DRIVER at International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)
The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) seeks to recruit a Driver who will facilitate transport services by driving to authorized destinations and who be a member of the CIMMYT Ethiopia office in Addis Ababa located at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Addis Ababa campus.
The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) is an autonomous, non-profit making, international scientific organization operating under the aegis of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). More specifically its mission is to encourage, support and undertake activities to improve the productivity, profitability, and sustainability of maize and wheat systems in the interest of the resource-poor in developing countries.
Main duties & responsibilities:
Liaise with relevant persons for instructions and ensure travel requirements are met as per the transport policy;
Drive to various destinations;
Report on all vehicle costs incurred;
Submit travel expense reports after every field trip;
Inspect assigned vehicles before and after trips for tools, equipment, spare parts, insurance, licences and make sure that they are serviced as per schedule;
Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle including cleanliness;
Maintain a clear worksheet on vehicle usage in terms of mileage and fuel consumption;
Perform any other related duties as may be required.
Education:
High School Complete/Preparatory Certificate Level 1
Training:
Valid driving license for land cruisers
Experience:
At least one year of practical driving experience, preferably in an international organization
Skills:
Field trip experience in different parts of Ethiopia is required
Knowledge of Auto mechanics is desirable
Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal relationships
Good knowledge of Ethiopian roads and locations of Government offices and NGO
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Position level: HG 08
Minimum Base salary: Birr 15,758 per month (negotiable depending on the salary history of the candidate)
Terms of Appointment: This is a National Staff (NS) position, initial appointment is for two years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding. The ILRI remuneration package for nationally recruited staff in Ethiopia includes very competitive salaries and benefits such as life and medical insurance, offshore pension plans, etc. The ILRI campus is set in a secure, attractive campus with dining and sports facilities.
