Job Description
Gender and social inclusion advisor concerning gender and social inclusion related activities advisor for Quality health Activities (QHA).
Technical oversight and support for QHA’s gender equality and social inclusion work through integration along all thematic areas and implementing partners
Play a lead role the Gender and social analysis and gender audit exercises for QHA in collaboration with the team
Lead the development of QHA’s gender mainstreaming and social inclusion strategy
Work with the project team to ensure integration of gender and social inclusion concepts in all QHA activities including technical implementation, policies. Procedures, monitoring, etc.
Provide technical assistance to QHA staff to enhance their capacity to integrate gender equality and social inclusion into designing, implementing and monitoring interventions
Provide technical assistance to the regional team on implementation of GESI activities in post conflict affected areas to strengthen implementation of Sexual and Gender-Based-Violence Prevention and Management practices.
Work closely with The Health Minister Gender, Disability and Youth desk through strategy development, annual plan development, stakeholders meeting, etc.
Collaborate with the MEL and Communication team to establish a monitoring system (e.g., indicators and data collection methodologies that is gender sensitive and disaggregated by sex, disability etc.) for GESI and prepare protocols and tools to track integration of gender and social inclusion in interventions.
Support documentations of lessons and publish documents like technical briefs, lessons learned, best practices with regards to gender mainstreaming and social inclusion in collaboration with specific technical advisors and knowledge management team, and share with stakeholders on different fora.
Follow up and ensure that the health service delivery and systems including facilities are gender sensitive and disability responsive,
Review project documents, training and ME manuals, related guidelines respect safeguarding, intersectionality and are inclusive,
Ensure the health service delivery and systems are compliant to national, and global standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Proven Experience in Gender programs
Advanced degree in gender studies, development studies, sociology, psychology, law, international development, or other relevant social science field.
Minimum of 7 years prior work experience in gender and social inclusion,
Knowledge of proven approaches and best practices for gender and social inclusion for women, children and other vulnerable groups
Proven experience conducting gender and social inclusion analyses and gender audits;
Previous USAID-funded project experience preferred;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and team work.
Experience of health-related gender programme, interacting with local governments, international organizations, other bilateral donor and civil society representatives, and senior level government officials is desired
Speaking of more than one local language is a plus.
