Job Description

Job Summary:

Works closely with the CEO to determine long-term financial goals and develop strategies to achieve the financial objectives of the company. He/She manages the capital budgeting processes, the capital structure of the company to finance its operations, and the working capital to ensure the company has sufficient resources to continue its operations and avoid costly interruptions.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Directs the process of planning and managing the company’s long-term investments by trying to identify and analyze investment opportunities;

  • Oversees the financial management and budget planning processes, and offer insights and financial advice to the top management to help them make the best business decisions for the company;

  • Helps the company in identifying the right sources of funds, which is required for implementing investment decisions of the company;

  • Negotiates with creditors and other financial institutions to obtain funds required for the company business operations;

  • Determines optimum proportion of debt and equity in the capital structure of the company that will be used to finance its operations and achieve minimum cost of capital and maximize business growth;

  • Ensures that funds obtained from different sources are prudently invested utilized to achieve business goals &objectives of the company;

  • Ensures proper management of cash and other current assets, which involves forecasting the cash inflows and outflows to ensure that there is neither shortage or surplus of cash with the company;

  • Ensures that sufficient funds are available for purchase of materials, payment of wages and meeting day-today expenses;

  • Evaluates the financial performance of the company by using different methods and techniques such as Return on Investment (ROI), budgetary control, cost control, internal audit, break-even analysis, and ratio analysis;

  • Ensures reliability and integrity of financial management information reporting systems;

  • Develops financial policies and procedure manuals including accounting and treasury policy and procedures, level of authorization, work flow etc. ;

  • Ensures that financial statements are prepared monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually and organize internal and external audit support programs;

  • Monitors to ensure that the company is paying its financial obligations such as paying taxes, loans on time;

  • Manages and executes the financial strategies concerning revenues, receivables, cashes, inventories, payables, disbursements, reconciliation of bank are carried out on time, and ensure that legal financial obligations are met at all times;

  • Keeps up-to-date on changes on financial laws and regulations with a special emphasis on tax laws, and ensure that all reported taxes are in compliance with comply with those financial guidelines;

  • Understands and manages possible financial or legal risks, and devises appropriate strategies to avoid or minimize those risks, and maximize advancement of the company;

  • Improves Constantly finance practices, and procedures to improve financial and operational performance of the company;

  • Assesses the company's financial position, financial stability and growth, and interprets financial statement and regularly informs and advises to the CEO, on how to reduce costs and increase sales revenue and profitability ;

  • Ensures staff members are getting necessary trainings to improve knowledge and skill to improve performance;

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Job Requirements

Education: 

  • MA/BA degree in Financial Management or Accounting

Experience:

  • Minimum of 16 years for MA degree out of which 6 years of experience in managerial position in construction & similar industries

  • Minimum of 18 years for BA degree out of which 8 years of experience in managerial position in construction & similar industries.

Competencies

  • Advanced skill in administration of finance and strong analytical skills with good presentation, report writing and interpersonal skill.

  • Extensive knowledge of setting of budgets, reporting, inventory control systems and accounting.

  • Experience and knowledge in investment and project finance.

  • Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner.

  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of IFRS, ERCA laws.

  • Experience with enterprise planning software platforms (ERP)

  • Cross functional team leadership skill.
