RACIDA ETHIOPIA

RACIDA Ethiopia is a non-profit organization with programs in Somali and Oromia regions. The goal of RACIDA is to build community resilience, promote peace and security and prevent humanitarian crisis during emergencies.

The RACIDA Ethiopia program strategy encompass mitigation, adaptation and preparedness measures to natural and manmade disasters, such as recurrent droughts, weather extreme, floods, conflict & related displacements.

The organization development program include improving access to water through construction and rehabilitation of water facilities; promoting sustainable pastoral livelihoods; natural resource management and peace building & reconciliation.

RACIDA is looking to hire two well experienced Gender and community Coordinators  for its program in East and West Hararghe zones (Oromia region) and Liban and Dawa zones (Somali region)

Overall responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership on improving the program gender mainstreaming interventions to expand access to improved water, hygiene and sanitation services for targeted woredas.

  • Focal person for community sensitization, social mobilization and organizing community meetings.

  • Promote community awareness of the climate resilient WASH program in different kebeles of the target woredas.

  • Maintaining relationships with kebele level community leaders, grassroots organizations and formal and informal committees and disseminate information in a timely manner.

  • Under the direction of the climate resilient WASH program gender advisor, assist with the development and management of the program gender initiatives.

  • Facilitate, technically assist and coordinate the climate resilient WASH program gender related studies and assessments.

  • Provide technical advice to the climate resilient WASH team on gender related issues and policies.

  • Under the direction of the climate resilient WASH program advisor, develop curricula to support women only training for WASHCOs.

  • Under the direction of the climate resilient WASH program gender advisor, develop community initiatives to improve gender dynamics (e.g., gender champion, scorecards, etc).

  • Provide technical assistance to the target woredas water resource development office, health office, education office and women affairs office.

  • Closely work with government WASH stakeholders and the private sector and assess areas for gender related technical support to local actors.

  • Facilitate and implement gender related trainings for WASH workers in the program target woredas.

  • Take part and facilitate the program MEAL process to regularly measure performance.

Deliverables:

  • Weekly and monthly reports related to the program gender equality and women empowerment interventions, including coordination with government stakeholders and other WASH actors.

  • Collect, analyze and compile reports of the program gender equality and women empowerment works and propose better implementation strategies in consultation with the Water technician.

  • Under the direction of the climate resilient WASH program gender advisor, facilitate and support the program gender analysis work.

  • Under the direction of the climate resilient WASH program gender advisor, facilitate and support preparation of strategy document to recruit and retain young women in TVET WASH programs.

  • Document gender equality and women empowerment good practices and timely share with the program team and the program coordinator.

  • Minutes of meetings with government stakeholders, WASH actors and communities.

Work place: Filtu and Dire-Dawa

Language: for Filtu applicant fluency in Somali language and for Dire-Dawa applicant fluency in Oromifa is required

Job Requirements

  • A minimum BSc. in social science or related fields

  • 7 years of relevant experience working in gender in NGO/NGOs

  • A minimum of 5 years high level experience in gender is required.

  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)

  • Very good report writing skills
