RACIDA ETHIOPIA
RACIDA Ethiopia is a non-profit organization with programs in Somali and Oromia regions. The goal of RACIDA is to build community resilience, promote peace and security and provide prevent humanitarian crisis during emergencies. .
The RACIDA Ethiopia program strategy encompass mitigation, adaptation and preparedness measures to natural and manmade disasters, such as recurrent droughts, weather extreme, floods, conflict & related displacements.
The organization development program include improving access to water through construction and rehabilitation of water facilities; promoting sustainable pastoral livelihoods; natural resource management and peace building & reconciliation.
RACIDA is looking to hire two well experienced Hygiene and SBC Coordinators for its program in East and West Hararghe zones (Oromia region) and Liban and Dawa zones (Somali region)
Overall responsibilities:
The Hygiene and SBC coordinator is responsible for the design, management, monitoring and evaluation of evidence based and inclusive Hygiene and SBC strategies. Promotes scalable ODF approaches tailored to the target woredas; supports the private-sector and/or social enterprise engagement for at least basic sanitation; improves MHH behaviors and availability of products and services; and promote adoption of key hygiene behaviors, products and services.
Functional responsibilities:
Technical leadership on improving the program hygiene/sanitation and interventions to expand access to improved hygiene and sanitation for targeted woredas.
Facilitate, technically assist and coordinate the climate resilient WASH program sanitation and hygiene assessments.
Actively participate in the development and realization of market-based sanitation business models tailored to the context of the intervention woredas.
Support the program efforts of establishing sanitation marketing centers.
Closely work with government WASH stakeholders and the private sector and assess areas for technical support to local actors.
Establish and train WASH & MHH clubs and IPC committees in the program intervention woredas.
Create MSMEs for sanitation and hygiene products and services with focus on women and youth.
Follow up and coordinate the proper dissemination of hygiene and sanitation messages to beneficiaries.
Working closely with the programme water technician, together prepare education materials for community awareness and support the program advocacy works.
Facilitate, technically assist and coordinate MHH assessments and market analysis in the intervention woredas
Conduct sanitation supply chain analyses and market assessments with the leadership of the program Sanitation advisor
Conduct a rapid review and update of WASH MHM Assessment and Market Analysis
Coordinate behavior change campaigns for improved MHH behaviors
Deliverables:
Weekly and monthly reports related to the program hygiene and sanitation and SBC implementation and management activities, including coordination with government stakeholders and other WASH actors.
Collect, analyze and compile reports from hygiene and sanitation and SBC activities, and propose better implementation strategies in consultation with the Water technician.
Establish a continuous awareness raising program to change the prevailing negative attitude and behavior of men towards MHH.
With the leadership of the program Sanitation and Hygiene Advisor, conduct assessments on challenges and opportunities to build and sustain sanitation progress in the target woredas.
With the guidance of the program Sanitation & Hygiene Advisor, update the CLTSH training materials to incorporate SBCC tailored to the intervention woreda context.
With the guidance of the program Sanitation & Hygiene Advisor produce climate resilient sanitation and hygiene implementation strategy document.
Minutes of meetings with government stakeholders, WASH actors and communities.
Document hygiene and sanitation and SBC good practices and timely share with the program coordinator.
Work place: Filtu and Dire-Dawa
Language: for Filtu applicant fluency in Somali language and for Dire-Dawa applicant fluency in Oromifa is required

A minimum BSc. in public health, environmental health and related fields.
7 years NGO experience in rural WASH projects, sanitation and hygiene, preferably. working on humanitarian programs.
A minimum of 5 years high level experience in Sanitation and hygiene is required.
Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written).
Very good report writing skills.
