BACKGROUND

The Center for Implementation Sciences (CIS) in Health at the School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University seeks to accelerate translation of effective policies and evidence-based practices into public health and development benefits through influencing policies, strategies, programs and practices at different levels of the health system. The CIS shall work, through its multidisciplinary teams and in close collaboration with relevant governmental and non-governmental stakeholders, to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies, methods, approaches, and models to promote the adoption, implementation, sustainment, and scale-up of evidence-based policies, practices, and programs in the fields of public health.

The center is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic Driver and Admin Assistant with relevant qualifications and experience. The applicant should be committed to provide the best driving and admin assistance service in supporting the vision of the center.  

Major Responsibilities:

The candidate needs to have driving and admin assistance knowledge and skills to successfully discharge the tasks outline below.

Driving Tasks:

  • Drive the Center for Implementation Sciences (CIS)’s staff and other visitors on program missions.

  • Perform routine maintenance checks and ensure that the vehicles are always in good mechanical condition.

  • Keep the vehicle clean, properly maintained, and fueled at the designated service stations.

  • Participate in budget preparation and monitoring of budgetary allocation of vehicles to ensure compliance.

  • Develop and maintain a regular schedule for all vehicle services, insurance, and inspection stickers.

  • Maintain vehicle movement records and vehicle management schedule and send them to the Finance & Admin staff every Friday.

  • Ensure that all accidents and incidents are documented, and the report is shared with your immediate supervisor, the CIS logistic coordinator, and relevant government authorities.

Administration Tasks:

  • Undertake messenger tasks and duties including running errands such as payment of bills, mail collection, delivery & distribution of letters, banking, and cashing petty cash cheques.

  • Assist Project staff in filing, photocopying, scanning, banding documents, and maintaining stores when required.

  • Assist in mailing and distribution.

  • Place calls & sending messages for the project staff upon request.

  • Receive and direct visitors in absence of project staff, providing information where needed.

  • Respond to general requests to study site coordinators.

General Responsibility:

  • Undertake other such duties as may be reasonably required by the center.

  • Jobholder entry requirements:

  • Diploma and above

  • Auto mechanic certificate

  • Strong communication skills and familiar with the government administrative process

  • Basic Computer skill.

  • Flexible to frequently travel outside the duty station.

Duration of work: 1 year with possible extension

Tentative Start Date: December 2023

Place of Work: Addis Ababa (2), Batu & Meki (1), Hawassa (1) – all with frequent travel in and outside the duty stations.

Qualifications Required

  • Any Diploma and above

  • Auto mechanic certificate

  • Public 1 driving license and above

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Computer literate.

  • Flexible to frequently travel outside the duty station.

 Work Experience and Skill required      

  • At least 2 years of driving experience 

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and adjust to changing preferences in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff

  • Good knowledge and experience of Ethiopian public service
