Job Summary:

You will provide technical advice and support to a range of program design and implementation issues in the area of Youth in line with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) program quality principles and standards, CRS Positive Youth Development framework, CRS Youth Workforce Development framework, CRS Youth Entrepreneurship framework, donor guidelines, and industry best practices to the Country team to advance the delivery of high-quality programming to the poor and vulnerable youth. Your advice, knowledge, and support will contribute to determining how effective, adaptive and innovative CRS’ youth-focused and youth-inclusive programming is across the globe.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and contribute to the implementation of agency-wide strategies, standards, tools and best practices in line with CRS Positive Youth Development framework to ensure increased youth engagement in through a socio-ecological lens that appreciates the individual youth, familial relationships, the community and policy level.

  • Provide technical and strategic leadership to the country program and CRS partners to ensure high-quality  program implementation.

  • Provide technical leadership to CP staff and partners in applying CRS Positive Youth Development, CRS Youth Workforce Development and CRS Youth Entrepreneurship frameworks and approaches.

  • Develop training strategies and training plans and facilitate trainings and workshops for youth-inclusive and youth-focused projects

  • Collect and analyze program data, capture and share lessons learned and best practices for specific projects to facilitate improvements in decision-making and contribute to the Youth learning agenda.

  • Contribute to maintaining relationships with donors, peer organizations, research and other institutions, participate in forums in the area of Youth to collect and share best practices and promote CRS’ work.

  • Engage on youth strategy and activity development and planning, facilitate strategy roll out to ensure youth needs and priorities are addressed with better coverage and quality.

  • Initiate and lead the development and adaptation of training manuals and operational guidelines aimed at youth engagement.

  • Map out and enhance collaboration and partnership among local level strategic public private stakeholders on youth sector through effective communication and coordination.

  • Network and coordinate with other field operational I/NGOs, UN Agencies and Government and explore/advise on possible areas of collaboration/partnerships to enhance program synergy.

  • Prepare youth focused case studies/reports, best practices and share for project staff for learning and application.

Job Requirements

Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in social work, Sociology, Business Studies, International Relations, in Social Sciences and related field is required.

  • At least five years of experience leading Youth related programing.

  • Demonstrated skills in all areas of Youth programing and knowledge management related to development programs.

  • Knowledge of technical principles and concepts in Youth engagement and inclusion. General knowledge of other related disciplines to ensure proper cross-sectoral approach.

  • Experience in project design and proposal development. Experience in writing content for proposals.

  • Knowledge of capacity strengthening best practices.

  • Experience with program monitoring and evaluation and analysis.

  • Experience and skills in networking and relations with donors, peer organizations, and faith-based and civil society partners. Understanding of partnership principles.

  • Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems, knowledge-sharing networks.

 Personal Skills

  • Strong relationship management skills with ability to influence and get buy-in from people not under direct supervision and to work with individuals in diverse geographical and cultural settings

  • Good strategic, analytical, problem-solving and systems thinking skills with capacity to see the big picture and ability to make sound judgment

  • Good technical writing skills

  • Presentation, facilitation, training, mentoring, and coaching skills

  • Proactive, resourceful and results-oriented

 Required/Desired Foreign Language: English and Amharic

 Travel Required (25%)
