About the organization:
Health Poverty Action/HPA (registered as Health Limited) is an international non-profit founded with the vision towards a global community with equality. HPA approaches inequality in health outcomes beyond medical reasons and from social justice. HPA has more than 37 years of experience in Africa and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2005. HPA has implemented several successful projects in Afar, Addis Ababa, Amhara, Benshangul-Gumuz, Oromia, SNNPR and Somali regions. Most of the projects targeted communities residing in hard-to-reach areas with interventions focusing on responding to health emergencies, maternal and child health; sexual and reproductive health and rights - including harmful traditional practices; prevention and control of communicable diseases; addressing malnutrition; GBV prevention and response.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The position holder shall be in charge of technical quality implementation and delivery of the mobile health services in the assigned woreda. S/He will mainly be responsible for the daily implementation of the screening, OTP, consultation, outreach EPI, health education, sanitation, safe motherhood, and child health as per the guideline of RHB mobile health and nutrition teams. She/He will be responsible for the daily implementation of mobile health services package as per the standard, supporting health facilities assigned as integrated mobile health & Nutrition modality and daily dispensary and drug supply management. He will also be responsible for day-to-day documentation of screened children and mothers, children admitted to OTP, children and adults treated, people provided for health education, vaccinated children and all provided services accordingly and compile weekly and monthly reports and share with mobile health and nutrition officers and woreda health office.
Provide health education at project’s MHNT-supported health facilities.
Keep record and registration of health consultation and program beneficiaries,
Prepare, compile, and timely submission of child health and nutrition services reports,
Manage child health products/drugs stock, follow up on the stock level, utilization, and balance, and advise early shortage to MHNT team leader,
Capacitate and assist HEWs in providing child health and nutrition services provision
Compile and submit stock consumption reports.
Consistently and proactively assess the safety and security of the team; promptly report concerns or incidents to HPA management and liaise with community leaders and other external parties
Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Project Coordinator, and ERC.
Develop donor reports in collaboration with the senior health officers, health Officers, RH Clinical mentor, field coordinator, and Addis’s health technical units.
Provide technical support to health workers, and health extension workers, based at health facilities.
Ensure that the stated goals and objectives of the projects are met.
Provide weekly/ monthly progress and quarterly reports to the concerned and work closely with the MEAL Officer and Technical units.
Work with MHNT Team leader, Midwife Nurse, other staff members in the field as well as the country office.
Work with Woreda Health Offices, HEWs, and health staff of health facilities.
Implement other activities as assigned by the line manager
Terms of Employment: Six-month contract with the possibility of extension upon satisfactoryperformance appraisal and availability of funding.
Qualifications:
BSc and Diploma in public health/Nurse/Midwifery
Preferred experience & skills:
Diploma/BSC in Midwifery with at four/two years experiences for diploma and BSC degree respectively and having NGO experience is highly desirable.
Proven experience in working with communities in participatory approaches and capacity building of health centers.
Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the implementation of emergency health response projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Self-motivated, open, highly responsible, and punctual, with an ability to constructively address gaps and weaknesses.
Ability to work under pressure in remote areas and understanding of the cultural context of the local area.
Language Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Amharic and Afar
