About the organization:
Health Poverty Action/HPA (registered as Health Limited) is an international non-profit founded with the vision towards a global community with equality. HPA approaches inequality in health outcomes beyond medical reasons and from social justice. HPA has more than 37 years of experience in Africa and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2005. HPA has implemented several successful projects in Afar, Addis Ababa, Amhara, Benshangul-Gumuz, Oromia, SNNPR and Somali regions. Most of the projects targeted communities residing in hard-to-reach areas with interventions focusing on responding to health emergencies, maternal and child health; sexual and reproductive health and rights - including harmful traditional practices; prevention and control of communicable diseases; addressing malnutrition; GBV prevention and response.
Review, facilitate and request payment for project activities and ensure disbursement for accuracy, completeness, compliance, level of authorization and clarity on the invoices
Review accounts on regular basis to ensure the balances are complete and accurate
Record all project office financial transactions and meeting all submission dates and reporting requirements as required
Assure accuracy of supporting documentation for accounting records by maintaining accounting filling system
Prepare payroll and submit for timely payment of salaries.
Handle tasks related to HR and administrative issues of the project office such as Fleet management, annual leave management, office security and cleanliness.
Organize properly record keeping of personnel data, property administration and keep systematically updated record of staff and documents of the project.
Keep proper record of fixed assets and property and prepare monthly fixed asset reports.
Coordinate provision of general services such as transport, custody and maintenance of properties and project purchases
Prepare and submit monthly electronic and hard copy reports with supporting documentation to country office finance section
Terms of Employment: Six-month contract with the possibility of extension upon satisfactoryperformance appraisal and availability of funding.
Qualifications:
BA Degree in Accounting and Finance with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience
NGO (Field project experience is an asset).
Proficient in computer skills particularly Microsoft Office, especially use of Excel
Good command of the English language and the local language (Amharic and Afar)
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to organize and manage one’s own work with ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
Make registration and keep updated demographic data on the number of IDPs
Closely work with the MHNT as one of the team member.
Create smooth relationship and closely work with the IDP returnee and their representatives.
Link targets who need health service to the MHNT to seek proper health service.
Undertake other additional activities as per the direction of immediate supervisor.
Experience:
At least two years of relevant experience in the field.
Grade 12 complete/10 plus TVT training/ diploma holder
Extremely flexible and has the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
Interest in and ability to work in team.
Ability and willingness to work in remote and potentially insecure environments.
Good written and spoken ability of the local language (Amharic and Afar).
