Job Description
Brief about EIH
The Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) was established on December 29th, 2021, through the Council of Ministers Regulation No 487/2021. The objectives of EIH include serving as the strategic investment arm of the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) and contributing to sustainable economic development, through the management of its funds and assets, and achieving optimal use of the assets, in accordance with the international best practice and rules to maximize the value for the benefit of current and future generations of Ethiopians. EIH has acquired 27 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) following the decision of its Board of Directors. In line with its mandate, EIH will implement best-practice corporate governance and performance management techniques to ensure the long-term value creation of its subsidiary companies, and in doing so, enable them to attract investment that will help address strategic needs of the Ethiopian economy.
Primary purpose of the role:
Assist the portfolio director in all engagements and activities to ensure effective sector oversight through conducting research, analysis, documentation, report, presentation, monitoring and developing sectoral expertise to facilitate portfolio planning, support, assessment, and engagement.
Assist in mapping/documenting the relevant key players/stakeholders/peers related to the sector/subsidiaries along with their expectations to understand the ecosystem.
Build a domain of knowledge through in-depth analysis of challenges and opportunities in the assigned sector and subsidiary.
Gather, review, and document periodic reports including strategic plans, annual plans, budget, periodic financial and non-financial reports, and share observation.
Gather, review, and perform periodic performance analysis (TvA) and share observations and insights
Assist with review and preparation of feedback/slides for periodic performance dialogue.
Research industry trends, related best practices, and share business improvement ideas relevant to the assigned subsidiaries.
Assist in research, support, follow up, and development of corporate hygiene checklist regarding corporate management and corporate governance.
Track, document, and share the status of financial reporting, and audit status (internal and external)
Track, document, and share the status of tax and dividend compliance.
Ensure that all subsidiary-related files are named appropriately and saved systematically for easy retrieval.
Assist in researching sector expertise to develop profile data base of potential board member.
Ensure that cluster/subsidiary directors are up to date with updates or trends or potential risk
Actively engage with the investment team on projects by sharing portfolio-related information and related analysis
Other duties as assigned by the Portfolio director.

Competency Requirements of the position:
Educational Qualification:
The Ideal applicant have at least a bachelor’s degree in business, technical or related field.
Experience Required:
Progressive experience for more than 5 years in support, research, analytics, reporting, documentation, project, or program support with demonstrable exposure to corporate governance and corporate management in private or public enterprise.
Additional international certification is a plus.
Sector-specific exposure is advantageous.
Core Competencies:
Proficient in leading and coordinating responsibilities with minimal supervision, demonstrating the ability to work independently.
Skilled in translating strategic issues into concrete, actionable plans with meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
Preferably experience in portfolio management, management consulting and enterprise reform.
Prior exposure to policy implementation and a history of collaborating effectively with cross-functional and culturally diverse teams.
Proven track record in problem-solving and project management, with a demonstrated history of successfully delivering critical government and private sector initiatives.
Skilled with financial statements understanding and analysis.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, adept at developing and nurturing relationships with a broad spectrum of mid to senior-level stakeholders
Proficiency in producing high-quality documents and presentations using Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
Ability to achieve results in complex and challenging environments
Language requirements:
Fluency in English, Amharic (Knowledge of other local language is a plus)
