The Business developer at East African Trading House is a dynamic and multifaceted role that combines traditional business development responsibilities with the strategic leadership of our E-commerce platform development project. As a key member of our team, you will be entrusted with leading the end-to-end project management of the development of our E-commerce platform. The ideal candidate should possess a strategic mindset, problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead a complex project.
Conduct market research to identify potential areas for growth. Analyse industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes.
Conduct thorough market research to identify E-commerce opportunities and trends in the FMCG sector.
Develop a comprehensive project plan for the E-commerce platform development, including timelines and milestones.
Lead the E-commerce development project. Oversee its execution end to end, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards. Onboard all staff on the project and ensure lean product launch and sustainability of the platform after the project phase.
Have a complete understanding of the customer needs, and use that knowledge to advocate for and drive delivery of ecommerce features that provide customers with an unparalleled shopping experience.
Managing relationships with customers/partners and ensuring seamless end-to-end integration of the e-commerce business
Continue serving as the product owner for the E-commerce platform. Regularly monitor, collect and assess feedback from customers, employees, management, and other stakeholders. Implement necessary improvements and optimizations to keep the platform at the forefront of industry standards.
Assist in developing a digital strategy for online sales and customer engagement.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring their satisfaction with the company's products or services.
Keep management and stakeholders informed about the progress of business development efforts through regular reporting.
Stay abreast of the marketing trends and requirements for ecommerce business to continuously find ways to increase and grow EATH ecommerce business
Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, economics, or a related field. MBA preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in business development, preferably in E-commerce project management
Direct experience with ecommerce, warehouse management systems and/or equivalent
In-depth knowledge of the FMCG industry and E-commerce trends.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal in English, along with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. This includes the capacity to present ideas and strategies convincingly.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on large and complex projects.
Detail-oriented mindset and structured working methodology, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and priorities.
An entrepreneurial mindset with an innovative approach to business planning. This includes thinking strategically, identifying opportunities, and developing effective strategies to seize them.
