Job Description

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Addis Ababa seeks to recruit a suitably qualified Staff Member for the Economic and Cultural Section for a temporary employment from 15th January 2024 until 14th May 2024 

Job description:

  • Compiling of reports on economic and cultural issues      

  • Compiling Economy Briefings

  • Liaising with Ethiopian Authorities in the economic and cultural field

  • Updating fact sheets and other informational material

  • Answering Questions by the public

  • Liaising with the relevant German institutions in Ethiopia

  • Liaising with cultural and economic institutions in Ethiopia as well as other Embassies

  • Summarizing relevant meetings

  • Translations (orally and in writing) of relevant matters

  • Support of the Economic/Cultural-Secretariat

  • Event management, including participation in evening and weekend events

  • Develop ideas for cultural projects and events

Job Requirements

Required qualifications and experiences:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Economics or Business Administration or a relatede field

  • Excellent working knowledge of all current software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Very good communication skills (spoken and written)

  • Previous focus on Macroeconomics helpful

Language skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of the Amharic and English languages is a prerequisite additional knowledge of the German language would be an advantage

  • Payment is subject to the Embassy's salary scale will be appropriate and customary. The contract will be based on Ethiopian law.

  • Documents in Amharic must be accompanied by an English or German translation from an authorized translation office.

How to Apply

The Embassy is offering a full-time position with a working time of 40 hours per week. Salary is based on the Embassy´s current salary scheme. Benefits such as medical insurance are offered to employees and their families under certain conditions.
