Job Description
Purpose statement: To manage Accounting & reporting functions including identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, provide up to date periodic financial reports that help top management to take timely and appropriate business decisions and train & develop team members for career succession planning.
Manages the preparation of monthly financial reports (income and loss statements, Balance sheets, cash flow statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) as per group reporting timelines.
Consistently liaising with external auditors for timely completion of the audit.
Ad hoc reports to management team from time to time on various areas to closely monitor them.
Working with Group IT team for updating profitability portal for reviewing on time reports on the portal.
Filing of the month end return to the authorities timely.
Ensuring Transfer pricing documents are duly filled up and reported to the authorities before the due date.
Ensures that timely actions are taken with regards to observation of auditors.
Evaluate the actual cost for the month with that of previous month and identify the reasons.
Evaluate the actual cost for the month with budget and identify the reasons.
Constantly monitor the YTD actual cost with that of YTD budget.
Cross follow up with the Senior Accountant for Bank Reconciliation on weekly basis and resolving the issue identified immediately.
Ensuring proper accruals are made into the system and reverse whenever required.
Sending monthly confirmations to the related parties and correcting the accounting records to match the payable & receivable with the related parties.
Recording of exchange gain and loss on all transactions wherever & whenever required.
Cross checking correct tax related entries are parked into the system.
Cross questioning within the department (managers) and intra department heads on expenses incurred and identifying the justification on variation on Balance Sheet & P&L items.
Ensuring all the AFCEs (Authorization for Capital Expenditure) are budgeted and approved as per the AFCE guidelines.
Periodic reports on utilization of approved AFCE for projects prepared as per Group Project Procedure Manual and consistently complied.
Constantly check the Guarantee Cheques received and their dates along with advances paid.
Cross check the bid summary and the contract award status.
Ensuring the Group AFCE score is above the group average on a monthly basis.
Ensure periodic inventory count and correct the system based on the actual available assets.
Ensure Fixed assets are timely recorded and capitalized into the system.
Ensure the fixed assets disposals are properly approved and written-off from the system.
Ensure the fixed assets are duly tagged as per SAP numbers.
Performing the depreciation run once monthly, once all the fixed assets are capitalized.
Closely monitors and ensures accurate and up to date accounts and financial records are maintained based on Company financial policy and procedure and a standardized procedure.
Ensures that information on financial status of the Company is readily at hand whenever required.
Motivate, direct, coach and develop a diverse, high performing team to meet established goals and build organizational capability.
Routinely train finance personnel on new efficient way of working.
Demonstrate behaviors needed for effective implementation of change.
Continuously assess the team capability and develop training plans and execute.
Prepare sub-ordinates KPIs and monitor their performance periodically.
Periodically conducts performance appraisal of subordinates and staff to identify performance gaps or outstanding performance and take appropriate action.
Attend to sub-ordinate grievances and take corrective action in a timely manner in coordination with the CFO & HR.
Foster an environment that supports an engaged safety and quality culture.
Maintained a SAFE ZONE to employees by ensuring all hazards are identified, reported and removed.
Report all unsafe conditions, near misses and unsafe behaviors.
Reported all accidents and incidents.
Engaged with employees continuously through safety talk to create awareness
Qualification:
BA 8 years or MBA/MA 6 years or ACCA with 4 years relevant experience of which at least 2 years as Manager Accounting & Reporting or equivalent capacities at manufacturing company or audit firm
Hands-on experience on SAP and in-depth knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) and its application.
Good knowledge of the Ethiopian Tax regulations.
Fluency in English language.
