Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Oversees and ensure the implementation of the safeguarding policy.

·         Monitor safeguarding work to see how effective measures in place are working.

·         Ensure safeguarding is included in Program meetings and report findings.

·         Support regular updates to staff, volunteers and communities.

·         Promote safeguarding and model behaviors that support a safe culture.

·         Develop and implement safeguarding policies and procedures for the Access to Finance Program.

·         Ensure that all program staff members are aware of and trained on the safeguarding policy and procedures.

·         Regularly review and update the safeguarding policy and procedures based on emerging best practices and organizational needs.

·         Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential safeguarding risks and vulnerabilities within the program.

·         Collaborate with program teams to integrate safeguarding measures into program design and activities.

·         Monitor and evaluate the program's progress on safeguarding.

·         Work with the Gender Specialist and other team members to ensure that the program is meeting its safeguarding commitments.

·         Representing the program at conferences and events on safeguarding.

·         Establish and maintain effective reporting mechanisms for safeguarding concerns or incidents.

·         Respond promptly and appropriately to safeguarding incidents, ensuring the safety and support of individuals affected.

·         Collaborate with the Gender Specialist and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the integration of safeguarding with gender and youth considerations.

Job Requirements:

Education

·         Bachelor or Master's degree in social science, social work, international development, child rights or relevant field or equivalent.

Experience

·         2+ years of experience in safeguarding programming.

Competency/Prerequisites:

·         Proven track record of developing and implementing safeguarding policies and procedures.

·         Passionate about safeguarding and committed to ensuring the highest standards of practice

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
