About the organization

East African Trading House (EATH) PLC is a trading company engaged in the distribution of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Construction materials, and Fresh products (Fruits and Vegetables in its outlets.

Agronomist

For its fresh products, EATH works with producers and group producers to supply its fresh products to its clients.  

Currently, EATH needs to develop its quality parameters and quality policy manuals. In addition to these EATH wants to be assured the quality of fresh products both from the supplier side at the farm, at the warehouse gate, and its distribution outlets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop appropriate research methodologies for developing quality parameters and quality policies for fruits and vegetables.

  • Develop quality parameters and a quality policy manual for fruits and vegetables.

  • Develop a product specification for fruits and vegetables.

  • Take a sample and approve the quality of fruits and vegetables from the supplier.

  • Take samples and approve the quality of products at the supplier farm.

  • Take a product sample and approve the quality of the fruits and vegetables at the warehouse of EATH.

  • Measure and approve the volume of purchased products as per the purchase order.

  • Check and provide the quality of the product against the purchase price of fruits and vegetables before and after the purchase of the products.

  • Monitor the quality and food safety of fruits and vegetables at the outlets of EATH.

  • Make sure and approve the quality of the products before distributed to the final consumer of the products. 

  • Suggest appropriate materials, packages, and other equipment to be used in the store and outlets to preserve and maintain the quality of fruits and vegetables.

  • Suggest and implement appropriate modes of transport and logistics to maintain the quality of fruits and vegetables from the supplier to the end user of the products.

  • Follow the establishment of quality procedures for fruits and vegetables if any rule policies and other applicable by concerning officials.

  • Follow the health of salesman health certificate is up-to-date. 

  • Follow-up appropriate west disposal is maintained. 

Job Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agro-Economics, Master’s degree in Agriculture (specializing in Business field) a plus.

  • Minimum 3 years of agronomy work experience

  • Proven ability to delivery exceptional customer service

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.

  • In-depth knowledge of soil and crop principles

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Sales experience

  • Outstanding research and analytical skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
