Job Description
1. Gender Mainstreaming:
o Integrate gender considerations into all program activities, policies, and procedures to ensure inclusivity and equal opportunities for women.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program management, product development, marketing, and customer support, to identify gender-related gaps and develop strategies to address them effectively.
o Advocate for gender mainstreaming within the organization, promoting a gender-responsive culture and practices.
2. Gender Analysis and Research:
o Conduct gender analysis and research to identify barriers, challenges, and opportunities for women's access to finance and entrepreneurship.
o Collect and analyze gender-disaggregated data to assess the program's impact on women borrowers and identify areas for improvement.
o Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and research related to gender and finance, and apply relevant insights to enhance program effectiveness.
3. Product and Service Development:
o Collaborate with product development teams to ensure that financial products and services meet the specific needs of women entrepreneurs and borrowers.
o Conduct user research and gather feedback from women customers to inform the design and improvement of financial products and user experiences.
o Develop strategies to enhance financial literacy and education for women, promoting their understanding of financial concepts and tools.
4. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Engage with external stakeholders, including women's organizations, NGOs, government agencies, and community groups, to foster partnerships and collaborations that support gender equality and women's empowerment.
o Represent the company in relevant forums, conferences, and events related to gender and finance, sharing insights and contributing to thought leadership in the field.
o Develop and maintain relationships with gender-focused networks and organizations to leverage resources and expertise.
5. Training and Capacity Building:
o Provide training and capacity-building initiatives to internal staff, ensuring that they have a strong understanding of gender issues and are equipped to integrate gender considerations into their work.
o Develop and deliver training programs for women entrepreneurs and borrowers, empowering them with financial skills, knowledge, and tools to improve their access to and management of finance.
6. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
o Develop gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track the program's progress in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.
o Collect and analyze gender-disaggregated data to measure the program's impact and effectiveness in reaching women borrowers and supporting their financial inclusion.
o Prepare regular reports and presentations on gender-related metrics, outcomes, and recommendations to the Program Director and senior management.
Education
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Gender Studies, Women's Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Experience
· 5+ years of experience working on gender and inclusion work, including program design and implementation
Competency/Prerequisites:
· Strong knowledge of gender equality principles, women's empowerment, and gender mainstreaming strategies.
· Familiarity with gender and finance concepts, including women's access to finance, financial inclusion, and women's entrepreneurship.
· Experience conducting gender analysis, research, and data collection, with the ability to apply gender-sensitive methodologies.
· Strong understanding of gender-related challenges and barriers in accessing financial services and entrepreneurship opportunities.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
· Knowledge of relevant international frameworks and commitments related to gender equality and women's empowerment (e.g., Sustainable Development Goals, Women's Empowerment Principles).
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate gender insights into practical strategies and actions.
· Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Sensitivity to cultural and social dynamics related to gender and the ability to navigate these dynamics effectively.
· Proficiency in using technology and software applications for research, data analysis, and reporting.
