The E-Commerce IT Project Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing the successful implementation of e-commerce projects within an organization. This role requires a strong understanding of e-commerce platforms, technologies, and project management methodologies. The E-Commerce IT Project Lead collaborates with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver high-quality e-commerce solutions that meet business objectives and customer expectations.

Role & Responsibilities

Project Planning and Management:

• Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of e-commerce projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, considering business requirements and customer needs.

• Develop detailed project plans, including tasks, resource allocation, and dependencies, and regularly communicate project status to relevant stakeholders.

• Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and conflicts, implementing appropriate solutions and escalation processes when necessary.

• Coordinate project activities across cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, design, operations, and external vendors.

E-Commerce Platform Implementation:

• Evaluate, select, and implement e-commerce platforms and technologies that align with business goals and requirements.

• Collaborate with IT teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to configure, customize, and integrate e-commerce platforms, ensuring optimal functionality and user experience.

• Oversee the development and deployment of e-commerce features, including product catalog management, shopping cart functionality, payment gateways, and order fulfillment processes.

• Ensure compliance with security standards, data privacy regulations, and industry best practices in e-commerce platform implementation.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their e-commerce needs, gather requirements, and translate them into technical specifications.

• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between IT teams, business units, and external partners to ensure alignment and smooth project delivery.

• Provide guidance and support to stakeholders in defining business processes, workflows, and user interfaces for e-commerce solutions.

• Conduct regular stakeholder meetings, workshops, and presentations to gather feedback, address concerns, and provide project updates.

Quality Assurance and Testing:

• Define and implement quality assurance processes and testing strategies for e-commerce projects, ensuring the delivery of robust and error-free solutions.

• Coordinate and perform user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate system functionality, usability, and performance.

• Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to identify and resolve issues, bugs, and user experience gaps in e-commerce systems.

• Maintain thorough documentation of test plans, test cases, and test results to support ongoing maintenance and future enhancements.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

• Stay updated on emerging e-commerce trends, technologies, and industry best practices.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and innovative solutions to enhance the organization's e-commerce capabilities.

• Work closely with stakeholders to identify business requirements for future enhancements and upgrades to e-commerce systems.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (preferred).

• Proven experience in project management, specifically in e-commerce or IT-related projects.

• Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms, technologies, and best practices.

• Solid knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

• Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce, or similar.

• Familiarity with web technologies, APIs, and integration methods.

• Proficiency in project management software and tools.

• Knowledge of agile project management methodologies is a plus.

• Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, Prince2) is a plus.
