Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian indigenous, “Civil Society Organization” established in 2014. Introduction

The MHPSS Counselor will be responsible to assist he integration of mental health and psychosocial support in to the MHNT services in assigned woredas of Sibu Sire woreda. She/He primary responsibilities are oversee of the psychosocial components of the mental health and psychosocial program and implementing counselling services health facilities and community level.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthening identification and provide proper counselling service for those mentally ill clients need counselling and psychotherapy

• Provide social work and social support services linked to MHNT activities in the community and health facilities.

• Proved basic stress management and PFA to affected returnees and host community.

• Strengthen community-facility referral system for people in psychosocial problem.

• Work closely with project technical staff in ensuring coordination and integration across all activities.

• Organize public awareness and de-stigmatization campaigns around mental health issues with support from local staff including returnees.

• Provide technical guidance for other team members on mental health and psychosocial support.

• Provided formal and on job training and supportive supervision for ASDEPO woreda level staffs and government health workers.

• Promote gender equal and inclusive workplace culture in a day-to-day interaction with a team member and program participants.

• Implement other activities as assigned by project coordinator.

• Compiling progress reports and documentation and sharing of best practices and lessons learnt in MHPSS activities in collaboration others MHNT.

• Facilitate joint, supportive supervision and monitoring with MHNT.

Job Requirements

• BA degree in Psychology or related field with at least 3 years of counselling and social work experience.

• Ability to travel on short notice to project sites.

• Excellent English verbal and written skills.

• Knowledge of  local language (Afan Oromo) is mandatory
