Job Description

On behalf of one of its clients,  The Talent Firm is recruiting for the position of Head of Hygiene and Cleanliness. The client is a renowned company in the coffee service industry in Ethiopia.

Head of Hygiene and Cleanliness– recruited by The Talent Firm

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor cleaning and sanitation protocols across all branches.

  • Lead and manage the team of cleaners, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standard.

  • Conduct regular inspections of all facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Serve as the point of contact for all hygiene-related inquiries and concerns from staff and customers

  • Design and conduct training sessions for cleaning staff and other employees on proper sanitation practices, chemical use, and equipment operation.

  • Provide ongoing training for all staff on food handling and safety to minimize contamination risks.

  • Develop educational materials and guidelines for hygiene best practices.

  • Coordinate with pest control services to schedule regular inspections and treatments, ensuring effective pest management.

  • Investigate and address any complaints regarding pests or odors swiftly and effectively.

  • Implement preventative measures to maintain an odor-free and pest-free environment.

  • Oversee the aesthetic aspects of branch cleanliness, ensuring all public-facing and back-of-house areas are presentable.

  • Work with branch managers to address any aesthetic concerns and make improvements as necessary

  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, ensuring all branches are adequately stocked with necessary materials.

  • Evaluate and select high-quality cleaning products that are safe and effective, while considering environmental impact.

  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, inspections, training, and pest control measures.

  • Prepare regular reports for management on the status of hygiene across the branches, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.

Job Requirements

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certification in Public Health, Environmental Health or a related field is desirable. Additional certification in pest control and sanitation is a plus.

Experience:

  • 4-6 years of Proven experience in a hygiene/cleanliness supervisory role, preferably in the hospitality or food service industry.

Technical skills:

  • Strong knowledge of sanitation regulations and best practices, excellent leadership and training abilities, ability to work independently and make sound judgments, Strong communication and organizational skills, a commitment to providing exceptional service and upholding the brand’s reputation, flexibility to travel between branches as required and flexibility to work outside standard office hours when necessary.
