Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. Samaritan’s Purse is privileged to be part of the humanitarian effort in Ethiopia and legally registered as foreign charity to work in Ethiopia since October 08, 2018.

JOB SUMMARY
The Host Mothers (HMs) hired will care for the emotional needs of the children and be responsible for the everyday function of child-friendly spaces (safe havens) as part of more extensive mental health and psychosocial support programming in Shire, Tigray, for conflict-affected children and vulnerable women.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate a strong Christian witness and have a heart for staff, volunteers, and the community. Also desired is the ability to work well in a team environment.
Under the supervision of the Protection/MHPSS Program Manager (PM), the Host Mothers will undertake the following tasks:
· Maintaining the safe haven, playing games with the children, and setting up coloring and writing stations (with paper and colored pencils) for children to come and play at
· Under the leadership of the PM, be responsible for the day-to-day running as well as the strategic management of the hot meal distributions at the safe havens
· Ensure that hot meal distributions run smoothly and safe havens are kept clean and organized
· Monitor delivery of project components (such as ingredients for the hot meals, material for the children to use at the safe havens, and other supporting items) and report any issues with implementation
· Involve in the setup of safe havens to make sure the sites are safe for children to play in
· Be involved in training on various Protection and MHPSS program standards, PSEA, Provision of Psychological First Aid (PFA), basic hygiene, and referral linkages
· Support the collection of beneficiary data and contribute to success story and report writing
· Be present on all days on which the safe havens are running
· Report any project feedback, complaints, or suggestions for improvement to the PM or other relevant program staff
· Maintain good relationships with stakeholders and project staff for the smooth functioning of the safe havens
· All other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE NEEDED
The Host Mothers should be from communities directly affected by the conflict in Tigray. All applicants to this position should additionally be experienced in working with children.
Preference will be given to widows and single mothers.
The Host Mothers will receive training on engaging with children, basic first aid, identifying trauma and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and the referral process.
REASONING ABILITY
Applicants should be able to solve practical problems that deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization and have the ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be exposed to loud noises around the maintenance and construction workshops
· May travel in-country with exposure to communicable diseases and hot and humid weather conditions
