Job Description

Child Safeguarding: Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESPlanning and Reporting:In close collaboration with Camp based Program coordinator and other education staffs prepare work plan with quarterly deliverables and ensures timely submission of the plan for program and field operations team.Ensure increased access to safe and inclusive pre-primary learning environment for 3-6 years’ children in Pugnido refugee camp and surrounding host community areas.Ensure the preparation of timely and quality weekly, monthly and annual project progress reports on the standard formats.Lead the ECCE Centre/school annual plan preparation, regularly track student progress and compile reports at the respective camps and district level, and ensures timely submission for Gambella field office.Conducts camp/Centre based baseline assessment to identify gaps and pave the way for program effectiveness, in terms of equitable access for children, learning outcome and progress on major education project indicators.Ensure ECCE Centre’s &/ O classes are equipped with education materials, print rich corners and outdoor materialsReports on gaps observed to program coordinator or technical program leads on time for proper collective remedial actions

Coordination and Management of Projects ImplementationEnsures education project is implemented in a way that is responsive to teachers, the community, and children and in line with Save the Children principles, values as well as country office strategic plan.Ensures integration of ECCE and O class project activities with other relevant sectors like CP, WASH, Health, Nutrition and others.Identify gaps and provide technical and capacity building support for all education stakeholders.In close collaboration with the Camp Program Coordinator and other support units (at Field Office level),initiate, follow the required admin supports and facilitate on time implementation of the project activities based on the activity plan and ensure implementation quality.Ensure active participation of children and other stakeholders in the project activities implementationStrengthens team spirit and collaborative work relationships

Supervision and MonitoringIn collaboration with the Programme Coordinator and government stakeholders, maintain strongsupervision and monitoring system to measure achievement and progress toward the project objectivesand expected outcomes and impactsConduct monitoring and supervision of the planned project activities implementation and providetechnical support to incentive worker, ECCE facilitators/teachers, supervisors and ECCE Centres/schools to improve their activity implementation qualityStrengthen participatory, collaborative supportive supervision and support the existence of a functional MEAL/monitoring system for the program.

Staff Management and MentorshipStrengthen team spirit and team workEnsure that education personnel, head teachers and established committees in ECCE Centres/schools understand and are able to perform their role based on their specific TOR/Job descriptions, project objectives and expected outcomes.In collaboration with the Programme Coordinator, facilitate recruitment; facilitate their monthly incentive payment and capacity building supports for ECCE incentive staffs and others as appropriate.In close collaboration with the Programme Coordinator, provide leadership and manage the performance of the intervention centers/schools.

Capacity Building In collaboration with the Programme Coordinator and other SCI and government stakeholders staff, identify gaps and facilitate capacity building training and other support for supervisors, teachers, directors students and other stakeholdersArrange experience-sharing media among schools and other stakeholders.Ensure that the required appropriate technical support is provided for directors, teachers, supervisors and students on time and strengthen team spirit and collaborative work.

Perform any other activities based on line manager’s assignment

Job Qualifications:
Essential

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in the in education, ECCE/D, social sciences and other related technical fields. preferably in the INGO environment, including significant field operations experience running both development and emergency programs.

  • Minimum Qualified for BA Degree or equivalent in educational planning and management, Development Studies, or other related fields.

  •  Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation, and coaching. 

  • Experience in solving complex issues through analysis, the definition of a clear way forward, and ensuring buy-in.

  • Commitment to Save the Children values.

  • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods.

  •  A high level of computer literacy (word, excel, PPT, etc)
