The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia is looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position of Database Manager based in Addis Ababa.

Terms of Employment: Fixed term contract until December 2024 with possibility of extension based on budget availability.

GENERAL DUTIES

·       Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

·       Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct

·       Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

·       Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules in Ethiopia

·       Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times

·       Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers

·       Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC

·       May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1)    Data Management and Data Analysis.

Working under supervision and with support from the Economic Security Coordinator and Analysis and  Evidence, has some of the following responsibilities to facilitate the work of in the field:

·       Ensures compliance with established internal data collection methods, ensuring that forms are properly recorded and updated in all ICRC applications.

·       Keeps Data Management documentation updated, streamlining the cleaning process and the transfer of data.

·       Assists in improving, developing applying data quality monitoring processes & tools (dashboards etc).

·       Monitors data quality controls and consolidates, cleans and implements corrective actions for smooth management of the information collected. 

·       Contributes to institutional reporting and dashboards by supporting colleagues in delivering reports.

·       Ensures continuity and smooth transition of data entered into various system applications.

2)    Project/program monitoring and evaluation

Working under supervision and with support from the Economic Security Coordinator and Analysis and  Evidence, has some of the following responsibilities:

·       Designs or adjusts data-collection tools and regularly update the sofwares.

·       Support in the collection of data using data-collection tools and devices.

·       Designs databases; supervises and carries out data entry in the survey databases

·       Performs mid-level qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

·       Describes results and produces data visualizations.

·       Reports to his/her direct supervisor on the progress of beneficiary verification as appropriate

·       Writes and produces data to be included in EcoSec Quarterly reporting and any other report as required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

·       Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments

·       Is aware of the delegation’s objectives and has a good knowledge of the Movement and other contacts relevant to the position

·       Collects and shares information so as to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses

·       Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings and in the field, and avoids any activity that may reflect negatively on the ICRC’s image

·       Takes responsibility for their own professional learning and development

Job Requirements

·       Bachelor degree and above in business streams such as Sociology, Business management, business Administration, Economics, Marketing management, project planning and management and related courses.

·       Minimum of 3 years humanitarian work experience. Previous experience in MEAL appreciated.

·       Flexibility to move.

·       While not required, experience in graphic design is a plus

·       Good command (spoken and written) of English and Amharic.
