The Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute (EMTI S.C.) is a private company established to provide professional maritime training for Ethiopian Engineering graduates. The accountant will be responsible for various financial tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations. The ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with team members is essential for success in this role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including but not limited to, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. 

• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. 

• Conduct regular audits to ensure financial data integrity and identify any discrepancies. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial information and provide support for decision-making processes. 

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions. 

• Utilize computer software, especially Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook), to manage and analyze financial data. 

• Communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders to resolve financial issues and provide necessary information. 

• Adhere to strict deadlines and work efficiently under pressure. 

• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to accounting and finance. 

• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial operations. 

• Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field. 

• 4-6 years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance. 

• Strong knowledge and proficiency in using computer software, especially Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook). 

• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. 

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 

• Energetic and proactive approach to work, with a keen attention to detail. 

• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines. 

• Experience in auditing is a plus.
