Purpose statement

Utility Engineer is responsible to ensure the required availability and reliabilities of utilities installation for the production process of operation systems and ancillary processes at the lowest possible cost, considering both legal and Wilmar regulations. Ensure this within the organization by means of existing procedures. Organize and coordinate all activities of the Utilities unit, provide services to the production units in terms of supplying utilities in both required quantities and qualities, ensuring corrective and preventive maintenance of utilities plants and ensure adequate availability of technical materials for maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Achieves Utilities operation staffing objectives through the recruitment, selection, training, assignment, scheduling, coaching and discipline of employees. Communicates job expectations. Plans, monitors, evaluates and reviews job contributions. Plans and reviews compensation actions and enforces procedures and policies.

• Ensuring always utilities supplies in quantities and qualities wise.

• Implementing and Monitoring of Utilities KPIS like Energy, water, wastewater, etc.

• Implementing of Utilities monitoring system.

• Meets operational goals by contributing information and recommendations for strategic planning and review, preparing and enacting action plans, maintaining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, completing audits, identifying trends, recognizing problems and determining appropriate system improvements and solutions.

• Determine maintenance requirements on the basis of breakdown analyses and maintenance costs.

• Monitor the effectiveness of all inspection and maintenance activities and, if required, order maintenance plan adjustments so to increase the availability of the installation.

• Managed maintenance& operation activities of utilities plants are carried out according to plan and documented.

• Ensure formal failure analysis techniques are applied to recover in case of breakdowns (for instance, Breakdown Analysis, 5Why).

• Develops and implements maintenance management routines and aligns with customers like production (including daily breakdown analysis, work order generation and implementation).

• Priorities maintenance activity as per agreed plan with the customer.

• Ensure plant is operated according to the suppliers’ instructions and manuals.

• Ensure plant is effectively maintained and planned maintenance is applied.

• Makes sure critical spares are identified and stocked as per company stock policy.

• Ensure a maintenance management system (excel) is maintained for all maintenance activities.

• Reports all maintenance KPI’s are reported, and improvement planned.

• Supports financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and taking effective corrective actions.

• Maintains material and equipment supplies by regularly monitoring inventory levels, anticipating supply needs, placing and expediting electrical material orders and reviewing and checking invoices.

• Support the Maintenance Manager in preparing the department budget, in terms of materials, human resources, third parties, overhauls.

• Monitor actual versus planned results and take effective measures in case of deviations.

• Management of the Utilities maintenance Unit by organizing communication, setting priorities, organize training, management of the maintenance budget.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• BSC Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within manufacturing company preferably food manufacturing/ Soap and Detergent or

• 3 years’ experience in a Maintenance Head role within the food manufacturing environment/Soap and Detergent.
