Job Description
Lay Volunteers International Association (LVIA) NGO is an Italian association that deals with institutional solidarity and cooperation committed to fostering ways of local and global change to overcome extreme poverty reinforce equitable and sustainable development and enhance dialogue.
The WASH Manager will be responsible for the overall implementation of LVIA WASH activities in the intervention areas and support the development, preparation, supervision, and monitoring of the WASH the water, sanitation and hygiene project activities.
Design, plan, monitor and conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of water and sanitation program.
Assess water resources and carry out feasibility studies for selection of appropriate safe water supply systems. In consultation with beneficiaries he will plan, design, implement, organize, supervise and monitor water resources both ground and surface water, which may include abstraction, water storage and distribution systems, according to the project proposal.
Support in the technical design and supervision of all water, scheme improvement for irrigation purpose
Design solar system for irrigation purpose.
Support solar installation system and organizing training for water management system
Participate in solar technical working groups with consortium partners and external forums.
Ensure quality control through monitoring and evaluating of programmers and also by giving technical advice, ensuring that objectives are reached and that indicators are measured throughout the programmer life cycle.
Oversee pre-qualification, bidding and supervision of local suppliers and contractors ensuring direct compliance to LVIA’s standards.
Control progress and quality of the activities through periodical monitoring and evaluation visits, and also by giving technical advice to field staff, ensuring that objectives are reached and that indicators are measured throughout the program life cycle.
Review and approve all construction designs and establish technical standards in materials and building techniques.
Assure full and complete compliance to LVIA policies and procedures.
Write regular technical and activities reports weekly/monthly annually as required for program updates
Promote positive team environment between staff;
Regularly conducts project site visits evaluate the progress and quality of the work;
In collaboration with local government officials, facilitates WASH activities and community mobilization;
Carry out any assignment given by the project Coordinator/Manager or country representative.
Support in the preparation of new project proposals with regard to the sector of expertise.
Highly developed inter-personal skills/inter-cultural sensitivity;

Type of employment: 1 year contract with the possibility of extension.
Academic Qualification & Work Experience Required:
Bachelor Degree in water supply and environmental engineering, or related field;
5 years for BSc, relevant work experience in rural water supply, sanitation and hygiene, experience on emergency response is more advantageous.
Water CAD, Auto Cad, Epanet software, Computer literate, working knowledge of English
Competence in IT;
Other Requirements:
Practical experience in water well drilling works, and surface water development
Communicate clearly, and is able to facilitate workshop;
Has a good communication skill, both written and oral;
Build team spirit and resolve conflict, adapt to the teams to fit in well;
Set high standards for quality of work and coordinates group activities;
Manage time efficiently, monitors performance against deadlines and milestones
Computer skills for project activities reporting;
Good ethical and moral values
Understanding and respecting gender equalities, child protections and human right.
Ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and effectively
The person should ensure that projects stay within budget and that required materials and equipment are available.
Knowledge of Ethiopia’s rural areas.
