Under general supervision of the MSIE MCH Specialty Centre Manager, the Integrated Emergency Surgical Officer ensures efficient delivery of client / patient care in accordance with accepted standard medical practices and professional code of conduct with a view to achieving the following principal objectives; works efficiently to increase client satisfaction and build reputation of MSIE clinical services; ensure sustainability and financial feasibility of MSIE clinical services.

DUTIES/TASKS

• Examines patients/clients in line with standard medical procedures using various types of diagnostic mechanisms.

• Administers and prescribes drugs based on analysis of examination, test reports and findings and counselling services.

• Performs ANC, delivery, PNC, voluntary surgical contraception (VSC), Post-partum family planning, Cervical Cancer Screening and preventive treatment, comprehensive abortion care including second trimester termination of pregnancy and caesarean section.

• Directs the completion of the format to be filled by a Clinician. 

• Ensures the maintenance of a high level standard consistent with available resources.

• Prepares and submits reports, as deemed necessary.

• Participates in training programmes, as and when deemed necessary.

• Initiates or collaborates in research undertakings.

• Gives advice to the Centre manager and other staffs on any possible action to ensure quality care from which the center may benefit.

• Performs related tasks as required.

Job Requirements

1.     PERSON SPECIFICATION

A.    Qualification Requirements:

a.     Education

Master in Emergency Surgery and obstetrics .

b.     Experience

   Four years of relevant experience

B.    Skills, Attitudes and Attributes

• Awareness of MOH and/or MSIE  guidelines

• Conscious of government, MSI and MSIE regulations

• Awareness of concepts and strategies of quality care

• Attendance of MSIE Pre-service training

• Pro-choice.
