Job Description

The Livelihoods Officer will support the day-to-day results-based implementation of its agriculture sector activities. Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Livelihoods Officer will work closely with the Project team and in the target states, he/she will work closely with the zonal and woreda agricultural office focal persons and experts. 

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the Design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the  agri based project activities.

  • Responsible for overseeing implementation of livelihood project activities in accordance with approved time schedules, budgets.

  • Plan, facilitate, and conduct training in conceptual understanding of the latest agronomical practices. 

  • Provide technical support and applicable tools to project beneficiaries, and community structures,  in identifying demand-based potential and demand agricultural inputs.

  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.

  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.

  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.

  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.

  • Support, follow up & monitor implementation of the identified activities as per the plans.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  •  University degree in Food Security, Agriculture, Community Development or other related field; Vast experience in agriculture based emergency intervention.

  •  Minimum of 3-years’ working experience with humanitarian program in the fields of livelihoods at project level with at least 1-years’ experience engaging emergency interventions.

  •  Excellent command of the most common methodologies to identify, assess and monitor livelihood activities, with proven record of achievements.

  • Skilled trainer with experience developing and delivering training to a varied audience, such as project staff, stakeholders

  •  Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 

  •  Good understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts
