Position: Emergency Nutrition Officer
Duty Station: Bahir Dar - Amhara
Duration of Contract: One-year contract, renewable (with 60 working days of Probation)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Nutrition officer will be based at regional level and responsible for the successful planning, and implementation of JEOP nutrition program. The position holder will coordinate Rapid nutrition assessments in selected JEOP operation areas. S/he will be responsible to identify major nutrition problems in target woredas and communicate hierarchies for required response. Position holder will participate in planning, monitoring and evaluation of JEOP operation areas. The officer will be based in regional office level .
Key Result #1 – Implementation and Coordination
Plan and implement detailed activities as per the approved annual operation plan.
Organize standardized nutrition survey trainings to staffs and stakeholders
Carryout planned activities in close collaboration with relevant community volunteers and government stakeholders
Organize, facilitate and provide technical trainings including screening, and management of MAM and SAM, referral linking, ENA, and EHA, care group model etc.
Represent FHE nutrition technical working group and task forces.
Identify need of local health facilities to run standardized emergency nutrition services.
Closely work with logistic team on timely procurement of items needed for OTP and SC center support.
Ensure SBCC materials are timely printed and distributed to each FDP.
Ensure Target PLWs are accessing nutrition education through SBCC programs.
Coordinate with kebele health structures and HEW/HDA to facilitate JEOP participants’ attendance at nutrition education sessions
Take part in the designing nutrition and hygiene messages as per area context and translate in to local languages.
Organize sessions for nutrition messages transmission via available and appropriate media outlets at distribution sites
Key Result #2 –Monitoring, Reporting and partnership/networking
Organize joint monitoring visit to each health facilities and assess services provided to active cases.
Take part in joint mapping exercise (with ENCU) to identify main bottlenecks in emergency nutrition programming.
Take part in Rapid assessment surveys
Make sure that project performance is on budget, scope and time.
Take part in the entire process of nutrition survey and different assessments.
Organize regular review and consultative meeting with relevant community and government counter parts at district and zonal levels.
Conduct regular data tracking of SC and OTP admission, discharges and referrals and report to HO for analysis in team work with early warning staffs at each woreda.
Take part in on spot assessment and case identification process of health-related outbreaks, hunger in collaboration with local health office.
Represent FHE in regional level technical working group meetings

Education and Experience
BSc Degree in Nursing, Public Health Officer, and related fields.
3 years related work experience in a relevant position Preferably in INGO Setting
Familiar with SBCC programs and have ample experience in managing behavioral change related programs on nutrition, hygiene at community level.
Required to have ample experience in managing emergency nutrition specific projects.
Language
Basic Proficiency in both spoken and written English and local languages.
Distinguishing Competencies
Interested in working communities in need of humanitarian assistance.
Highly level of professional disciple.
Highly committed to serve communities in a very challenging places with limited access to basic services.
Excellent computer skill and knowledge in the area of MS word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and email communication.
Have in-depth understanding of national nutrition policies and strategies.
