Job Description
AMREF-CCM is a non-profit, independent, non-partisan and non-denominational Organization committed to development cooperation activities dedicated to promoting the right to health of Africa and Africans and works in the remotest and most vulnerable areas of Africa, in order that nobody is left behind.
AMREF-CCM has conducted several interventions in Ethiopia since 1982, funded by institutional donors and private Foundations. AMREF-CCM is currently operating in the Somali, SNNPR and Oromia Regions in Ethiopia. AMREF-CCM is currently implementing a resilience and zero hunger projects in Oromia Regional State East Shoa zone, Fentalie woreda and we are looking a community animator for the implementation of these two projects.
Facilitate community dialogues at meeting points (markets, community meetings, etc.)
Participate in the preparation of reports on gaps and best practices for each visit, along with a related action plans to be implemented and checked during the next visit.
Facilitate the awareness raising and community mobilization activities on issues concerning WASH and agro-pastoral and livestock management.
Prepare a monthly report on the implementation, progress, and the criticality of the planned Community activities to be shared to the Field Coordinator
(S)he participates in the monthly meetings of the Operations Committee, where he/she reports progress of activities, issues encountered and achieved results.
Maintain working relations with local authorities at the kebele and woreda level.
Organizes and assists the preparation of all the training events foreseen by the project.
Facilitates the active participation of students, families, school staff and committee members to the action, with particular attention to the effective participation of the female component.
Participate in the organization of awareness events.
During the execution of the activities, coordinates the logistics with the Field Coordinator and the Head Office.
Supports the monitoring of the action by compiling the field reports and by assisting the Project Officer in monitoring the progresses in achieving the project indicators.
Supporting the FC and the Head Office in the procurement of items together with their proper distribution to the communities

Place of assignment: Metehara field office-with frequent travel to project sites.
Qualifications:
Ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues from different functions and cultures.
Capacity of proactively identifying and addressing issues.
Demonstrated ability in community mobilization and community-level dialogue.
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
Experience in working with local communities at field level in development projects, specifically on WASH and Agro-pastoral and livestock management.
Experience working with NGOs.
Diploma in Social Sciences / Health or related.
At least 2 years of experience in community animation programs
Knowledge of Amharic, Afaan Oromo and English (spoken and written).
