Job Description

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA), the legally mandated agency to license and re-license Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programs, and provide CPD training, believes that CPD should be systematically organized, tied to the relicensing system and delivered effectively to help maintain and enhance professional competence and ensure quality health services in the country.

To strengthen the CPD system and scale up its proper implementation, EPHA is excited to announce an incredible opportunity to join our organization as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Coordinator.

Job Purpose / Position Overview:

As a Health CPD Coordinator, the candidate will be at the forefront of driving professional development initiatives for healthcare practitioners. The primary responsibility will be to ensure that healthcare professionals are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to deliver high-quality healthcare services per the guidelines outlined by the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) of Ethiopia. Specifically, the purpose of the job is to conduct professional development and training need and program evaluation assessment; identify, design, coordinate/facilitate continuous professional development and training programs of the Association.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops work plans that detail the steps necessary to implement professional development and training programs.

  • Collaborate with the FMoH of Ethiopia and internal stakeholders to understand the CPD guidelines and requirements for healthcare professionals.

  • Ensure compliance with FMoH guidelines regarding CPD documentation, reporting, and accreditation processes.

  • Identify and assess the learning needs of healthcare professionals through surveys, evaluations, and discussions with relevant stakeholders.

  • Participates in the development and revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, and templates of the professional development and training functions.

  • Supports the preparation of training materials in advance and ensures training venues are arranged in advance.

  • Ensures, audio-visual aids and other equipment for the management of the training are available as required.

  • Identifies professional development areas given building the capacity of members& staff.

  • Asses the local capacity in identified areas and make every effort for the provision of professional development schemes both in the short& long term.

  • Arrange specific training programs, organize venues, invite participants, and confirm their participation including from regions.

  • Collaborates with all health institutions to enhance the professional development of members.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of CPD initiatives, collect feedback from participants, and make necessary adjustments to enhance the impact and relevance of the programs.

  • Review the local curriculum and initiate the adoption of additional curricula that may contribute to the advancement of local capability in the public health sector.

  • Prepares and organizes educational seminars, conferences, meetings, workshops, and training, records the inputs, and ensures proper documentation.

  • Prepares training reports at the end of the training program and conducts program evaluation and impact assessment.

  • Carries out other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Location: Addis Ababa

Salary: Based on the Salary Scale of EPHA

Duration: One year with possible extension of the contract depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ph.D. in Public Health plus pedagogy, TOT, training management training or MD degree in Medicine/MA in Health Science/ MPH with 2 years of experience or BSC degree in Public Health/ Health Science with 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Proven experience in coordinating Continuing Professional Development programs, preferably in the healthcare sector, and a solid understanding of the FMoH guidelines for CPD in Ethiopia.

  • Familiarity with the healthcare landscape in Ethiopia, including the regulatory framework and accreditation processes.

  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and evaluation techniques.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in CPD documentation and reporting.

  • Proficiency in using technology and online platforms for CPD delivery and administration.
