About One Acre Fund

One Acre Fund works to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. In Ethiopia, we engage farmers in agroforestry and community-based seed multiplication to increase farmers' incomes and improving farming systems. Engaging with local actors at every step but bringing ideas from outside, we are making rural farming more market-friendly and environmentally sustainable. Our Ethiopian partner farmers have planted more than 45 million trees, produced over 2000 MT of improved teff seed and improved the futures of hundreds of thousands of their neighbors. In Ethiopia alone, our permanent team numbers over 150 with nearly 1000 rural seasonal staff supporting them. Our Ethiopia headquarters are in Addis Ababa and we have a large program office Bahir Dar, plus several smaller field offices.

About the Role

You will handle procurement processes, track procurement of goods and services, ensure that adequate competition is achieved for procurements, and provide regular procurement updates to requesters. You will independently manage procurements, manage complex procurements, and support with other supply-chain activities.

• You will work in the procurement department and will be responsible for supplier sourcing, maintaining good working relationships with suppliers, quality controls, ensuring the cost-effective procurement of materials, goods, and services.

• You will work closely with the logistics department and other requesting departments and report directly to the Systems Lead.

• You will work at our Addis Ababa Office with few travels to Bahir Dar Office on a need basis.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage routine Addis-based procurements

  • Prepare plans for procuring equipment, goods and services observing One Acre Fund procurement policies and procedures

  • Research potential vendors, compare and evaluate offers from suppliers, and maintain good working relations with vendors

  • Prepare bid analysis, purchase orders, and submit them for approval

  • Track orders, ensure delivery and review quality of purchased products

  • Proactively provide feedbacks for requesters

  • Conduct regular market research

  • Develop procurement strategies and endeavor to add value to procurements by making costs analysis and propose alternatives for decision-making

• Support with other supply-chain activities as needed

• Other related tasks as assigned by Manager or the Supply Chain Lead

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

• A bachelor's degree from a recognized university

• 3+ years of experience in supply chain

• Ability to work independently, and have excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency

• Attention to detail

• High degree of integrity and ability to manage conflicts of interest

• Excellent tact and negotiation skills,

• English proficiency
