In Ethiopia, Swiss Church Aid/ HEKS has country programmes with focus on Natural Resource Management, WASH, and Inclusive Markets for Smallholder Pastoralists & Farmers and Humanitarian Assistance for drought and conflict affected communities. Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) Ethiopia is looking for qualified and committed Community Worker for its integrated emergency responses project in Borana zone of Oromia region.
Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) Ethiopia with the financial assistance from Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is planning to implement an integrated emergency response in four target woredas of Borana zone. The project provides diverse livelihoods and market-based responses including community-based protection services to disaster affected target communities in Borana. The main objective of the project is to enhance the ability of vulnerable households from IDP and host communities in target woredas in the Borena Zone, Oromia, Ethiopia to recover from climate-related shocks and strengthen protective environment and resilience to recurrent and future crises.
· Carry out and facilitate the day-to-day planning, implementation, and monitoring of emergency project activities at woreda and kebele level.
· Work with IDPs, host communities, project team and government stakeholders to achieve the project outputs/outcomes.
· Ensure adequate consultation and participation of district and kebele level stakeholders throughout the project cycles such as in project planning, implementation, and monitoring of the activities.
· Facilitate various kebele level community meetings, monthly meetings both at woreda and community levels.
· Support and engage community in various kebele level emergency WASH, Livelihood and Protection responses as per the project plans and schedules.
· Ensure transparent and legitimate beneficiaries’ selection is conducted at community level with utmost participation of stakeholders at woreda and kebele level.
·Ensure that complete beneficiaries distribution lists are prepared, according to HEKS/EPER guidelines.
· Acquire accurate information about selected beneficiaries’ families, their problems, needs and capabilities.
· Register any feedback (complaint, suggestion etc.) from the community, or other relevant stakeholders and report it to the relevant officer.
· Prepare and develop periodic reports and weekly progress updates in a standard and quality manner.
·Respect HEKS/EPER global code of conduct and other organizational policies and guidelines
·Conduct other duties as may be assigned by the Project team leader and Project Officers
·Represent HEKS/EPER at kebele level at various forums, including providing updates project reports, information, plans and other relevant topics.
· BSc or Diploma in Food Security and Livelihoods, Rural Development, Sociology, and other related social sciences
·3 years of work experience in emergency food security and livelihoods, Emergency Livestock responses in pastoral areas
· Experience and understanding of Borana zone lowland woredas, context, livelihoods, and culture.
·Experience of working with IDPs, host communities and customary institutions at grassroots level
·Willingness to reside in rural/marginal areas, ability to work with minimum supervision.
Desirable Qualities, Skill and Competences
· Good English and Afan Oromo language skills (written and spoken)
·Good community level facilitation and coordination skills
·Strong sense of integrity and personal commitment to the goals and values of Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER)
