Job Description
In the framework of the SPEM project (Supporting Protection Education and Movement for Vulnerable Children in East Africa), and under the supervision of the Country Representative, CIFA is looking for Community Mobilizer to manage the project activities in Ethiopia specifically in Addis Abeba and in Dire Dawa.
The project “SPEM: Supporting Protection Education and Movement for Vulnerable Children in East Africa” is an CAI Italian Government financed project implemented in four countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Burundi and Tanzania. In Ethiopia, the project aims to facilitate the birth registration of the newborns and a more inclusive education in Dire Dawa and Addis Abeba.
CIFA is an international NGO with over 40 years of commitment in protecting the most vulnerable children and youth. Working in Ethiopia for over 20 years, CIFA supports the access to primary and secondary education, especially for girls; it fights against the worst forms of discrimination and supports women’s economic empowerment. With this approach, CIFA currently works in Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa City Administration, Amhara (South Wollo), Hareri and Oromia Region.
Position
Community mobilizer, supervisor of the project activities in Ethiopia
Duration
12 months with 60 days probation period (an extension may be considered)
Location
Based in Addis Abeba, and missions in Dire Dawa
Under the supervision of the Country Representative and in coordination with the other project personnel, she/he will be in charge to implement the activities:
· Capacity building to AALL and health workers on birth registration;
· Awareness to the Educating community in order to prevent the emergence of cases of child abuse and violation of children's rights
· Capacity building of the education community in order to put in place actions for access to inclusive and quality education for the most vulnerable children
· Any other activities required to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the project
· A bachelor's degree preferably M.SC in the field (s) such as: Community development or Education, and/or related courses.
· At least 3 years of experience with NGOs in a similar position
Additional skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and excellent awareness about communities, government structure and etc.
· Good report writing skill and able to collect document and share records and information.
· Computer proficiency is required.
· Ability and Willingness to frequently travel to all project locations.
· work independently and as part of the team, and work effectively with co-workers, partner agencies and the private sector.
· Computer proficiency is required.
· Excellent communication skills in English and Amharic, both written and verbal
