Job Description

Reporting to Executive Head of Direct Sales, the role holder will be responsible for defining, implementing, managing sales processes, projects, and programs required to enable an efficient and effective sales organization, aimed at large enterprise, public sector, and MSME region using Account managers and Partners. Exceed all sales budgets, customer retention, and enterprise & M-Pesa product sales. Ensure people are motivated and highly skilled– ‘Our people as differentiator’. Accountable for all KPI, department reporting and responsible for all communication within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the enterprise business growth in the region.

  • Formulation of Regional Sales and Retention Strategies so as to achieve set targets.

  • Develop and implement a mix of account manager and Partner sales-led – Regional revenue and customer growth.

  • Review Regional reports and dealer performance reports from account managers and formulate strategies to improve performance.

  • Responsible for Enterprise sale in the Safaricom Retail Shops

  • Responsible for acquiring Key Accounts (Government bodies, Utilities, Banks and other Retail & FMCG Accounts) and MSMEs on M-pesa Payment Products.

  • Foster, grow, and maintain a strong relationship with Key Accounts, Sales Teams and DFS teams, in order to Digitalize Financial payments within Key Accounts and wider businesses.

  • Mentor, coach, and lead Corporate Account Managers, Territory Account Managers, Enterprise Sales Executives, and partners to enable them to realize their full potential with clear development plans for each manager.

  • Develop and implement policies & procedures for sales operations that will increase efficiency and optimization of the sales & retention team.

  • Build and maintain a realistic pipeline that is minimum 3x cover

  • Define new processes/modify existing ones to suit business needs

  • Track and ensure all Enterprise Sales & Retention processes are ISO compliant.

  • Manage achievement of the departments’ objectives, ensure the departments objectives are agreed upon and documented in line with the Strategic plan, sales and retention strategy and targets.

  • Project management, continuously monitor and evaluate each stage of projects in line with pre-defined standards and deliverables.

  • Implement project control measures to ensure pre-defined quality standards are achieved.

  • Responsible for Sales Reporting and Performance management generate weekly management report, sales initiatives, and weekly pipelines.

  • Monthly and Quarterly performance monitoring and feedback to ensure timely remedial measures are taken in line with the HR set guidelines.

  • Coordinate, monitor, report, and responsible for the implementation of sales and retention initiatives and programs and trade Marketing activities.

  • Responsible for internal communication policy.

  • Liaise with the Business in Retail Manager within the territory to ensure that managed businesses visiting shops are well served.

  • Drive improvement in service process to remove roadblocks and bottlenecks

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related field.

  • Postgraduate certification in Sales & Marketing will be an added advantage.

  • Team player, strong influence, and relationship management

  • Ability to engage and influence at all levels of management, internally and externally.

  • Has worked in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and must have good problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Well-developed presentation skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (articulate) coupled with good listening and critical reasoning skills.

  • Ability to create and develop efficient processes.

  • Project management skills

  • Knowledge of local language is desirable
