• The Horn of Africa Evangelical Mission Engagers is a faith based organization registered in Addis Ababa on July 29, 2003, under Ethiopian law as a local mission association. 

Job Purpose:

• To enhance financial decision making by recording and processing financial data and reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing required financial reports and statements in an accurate and timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Assist in operational planning and budgeting for the finance function.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, etc.).

• Recommend ways to optimize resource usage and procedures.

Internal Controls and Recordkeeping:

• Review and refine financial transactions according to policy.

• Prepare general journals and subsidiary account reconciliations.

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial documents.

• Verify proper documentation and authorization for transactions.

• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.

• Justify and verify expenditures, charge them to correct accounts.

• Maintain general ledger through trial balances and reconciliations.

Compliance and Risk Management:

• Implement and monitor financial controls and procedures.

• Secure financial data through backups and security measures.

• Ensure adherence to all financial and legal regulations at all levels.

• Review and recommend adjustments to accounting systems and procedures.

Additional Duties:

• Perform other assigned tasks by the supervisor.

• Review and respond to audit findings.

• Collaborate on capital and operating budgets.

• Manage cash flow effectively.

• Ensure proper stock recording with the ministry.

• Maintain accurate fixed asset register and cash flow.

• Handle all tax-related matters.

Job Requirements

• BA Degree in Accounting, Accounting and Finance,

• Support letter from his congregation/ministries that confirms that he/she is a devout follower of Christ with a sense of call to work in likeminded ministries and kingdom purpose.

Experience;

• 5 + years’ Experience 

• Knowledge of Peachtree complete accounting software, Microsoft word and Exel,

• Time management skills.

• Verbal and written communication skills in English and Amharic.

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles related to non-profit organizations 

• Experience with payroll systems.
