Job Description

 The job holder is responsible to manage efficiently and effectively the Sun WASH project at the field level of the program area to meet the intended goal of the project by coordinating PIE’s Gambella PA Sun WASH team with the field office, Country and other regional stake holders in line with the country strategy to meet the donor compliance requirements to benefit the target community. In doing this, S/he is responsible and accountable to facilitate:

  • Effective and smooth communication between the CO and the project area the project technical teams

  • Integrated programming in joint collaboration by focusing on cross-learning, downward accountability for smooth and effective management of the project

  • ·Monitoring and evaluation of the project deliverables and producing consolidated narrative reports for financial and physical progress to the PA and the CO

  • A joint and effective working relationship amongst the Sun WASH team, and representing PIE primarily Gambella regional State bureaus, zonal & District level offices and other stakeholders like UNHCR and UNICEF as per the need at the different coordination forums of the partners and stakeholders’ meetings, workshops and events as necessary and delegated

  • Participate the proposal development, project evaluation and need assessment sessions at the PIE assignments

  • In this way, her or his work directly advances the Plan's objectives and offers effective and efficient managerial direction and assistance for the successful implementation of the Sun WASH project in Gambella Regional State as a stand-alone WASH programme of the Plan's emergency response within the framework of the Plan Ethiopia Country Strategic Plan.

 Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understand and put into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC).

  • Ensure that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted

  • Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.

Job Requirements

Qualifications/ Experience Essential:

  • A minimum of a University Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Child Protection, Development Studies, Sociology/Social work, Project Management, Economics or any related fields with a minimum of 7/5 years relevant project management Experience respectively.

  • Demonstrated solid experience in the management of key programmatic areas relevant to Gender Transformative WASH emergency response under the country program.

  • Additional experience and commitment to, and understanding of, participatory approaches to respond for disaster affected people, child protection, GBV, and Climate resilient

  • Previous experience of managing and developing a multi-disciplinary team. 

 Qualifications/ experience desirable:

  • Extensive knowledge on Climate resilient Gender transformative WASH, and the sector environment.

  • Understanding of Core Humanitarian Standards which are workable by sector. 

  • Knowledge of human resource and coordination role from general and organization perspectives.

  • Understand organizational principles, systems and have the ability to provide leadership and support to staff working at community level for disaster affected population.

  • Knowledge of child-rights programming particularly Child Protection in Emergency, CPiE

  • Knowledge of participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Research systems and processes.

  • Conceptual and strategic thinking skill.

  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with colleagues

  • Have good writing and oral communication skills, including presentation.

  • Experiences in resource mobilization through preparation of Humanitarian and Development Nexus WASH Project proposals.

  • Understands budgetary processes including planning, monitoring and reporting.

  • Ability to provide team leadership and communicate effectively.

  • Ability to conduct assessment, analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.

  • Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications
