Ethiopia is situated in the Horn of Africa and is the second most populous country on the continent with an estimated population of 115 million. How can you make a difference?

Purpose for the job under the overall supervision of Sr. Travel Associate and direct supervision of Admin Associate (Protocol), the incumbent of the post will be responsible for handling the protocol issues related to staff travel, work permits, visa and staff privileges.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Responsible for assisting the protocol team on protocol issues related to staff travel, work permit, visa, and international staff privileges. 

  • Provides support to newly arrived international staff in terms of preparation of documents required for customs clearance of personal effects.

  • Support travelers to and from ECO obtain visa (on arrival or from country of origin) and process the required permit for equipments to be brought in;

  • Organizes and files documents issued by the Government, UNCT, UNICEF HQ and CO related to Protocol.

  • Responsible for keeping the records of travel and residence documents for all international staff and makes all the necessary arrangements to update and renew documents as per Government requirements.

  • Responsible to assist on issuance of protocol routine correspondence, note verbal, reports in accordance with the Government requirements and standard office procedures.

 To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary school

  • A minimum of 5 [Five] years of relevant professional experience in travel/ protocol related work.

  • Knowledge of United Nations & hosting country travel & protocol rules and practices, and of standard tools and references of the travel industry.

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
