The position holder is responsible to facilitate the implementation of child protection in emergency project in targeted woreda in close collaboration with district & kebele key stake holders. He/she is expected to ensure that the project is implemented with Minimum Standard of Child Protection in Emergency and Plan International Child Protection in Emergency Policy and Guidelines.
Operationalization of activity plan, ToR development & execution (30%)
Develop and submit a work plan for the employment period to Guji field office.
Develop detail implementation plan (DIP) and ToR for each agreed activity in line with available budget & planned targets & facilitate timely implementation.
Field level project monitoring, follow-up & quality assurance (30%)
Conduct track records of project progress/status with clear project follow-up checklist periodically.
Provide technical and management support for the implementation, monitoring and reporting of child protection in emergency programmes and ensuring that the following interventions included in the child protection priority focus areas are implemented, monitored and managed in a timely and effective manner.
Based on needs assessment, support and facilitate capacity building of social workers and front-line workers on violence, referral pathways, case management, community-based child protection systems, community mobilization, integration of child protection into other programmes (multi sectoral programming); and psychosocial support as per capacity building plans.
Coordination & networking (20%)
Provide technical support to stakeholders including Women and Children Affairs Office in the implementation of emergency child protection response plan. This includes ensuring that the efforts are aligned with existing government mechanisms and services to strengthen the sustainability of efforts.
Takes part in district-based coordination/taskforce, or network meetings & share update reports with field office concerned person.
Reporting (20%)
Prepare and submit periodic project reports (monthly, quarterly & end line) as per standard template & agreed time frame.
Provide regular updates to the CPiE Coordinator and Field Emergency Response coordinator on progress, priorities and constraints.
Deliver reports on the Case Management for Unaccompanied and Separated Children and Other Vulnerable Children as necessary/requested by the Child Protection in emergencies & GBV coordinator.
Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies;
Implement Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications/Experience Essential:
Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social work, Law, Political Science & International Relations, community development or other related field of social science studies.
Strong experience (3yrs) in the child protection sector and technical understanding of CP data management, polices, conventions…etc.
Experience of working with vulnerable children, including children outside of parental care.
Experience in designing and facilitating of training and capacity building on child protection, counselling and/or case management technical areas with a variety of audiences.
Experience in community mobilization and conducting outreach activities.
Languages Required
Proficiency in English & Amharic
Knowledge of local language (Afan Oromo) is a requirement
