Job Description
Roha Medical Campus PLC (RMC) is building an integrated health campus in Addis Ababa. When complete, it will provide world-class, high-quality, affordable healthcare across multiple hospitals and facilities. The campus will be set in a lush, green setting, built to the highest sustainability standards, and with a beautiful urban park open to the public. Development of the campus has begun, and construction is underway.
RMC is seeking a Junior Accountant to support the successful development of the Roha Medical Campus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Perform general accounting and other related duties in the finance department.
Conduct regular ledger maintenance and post the appropriate transactional ledgers on the system.
Track and reconcile bank statements.
Maintain proper, clean, and orderly bookkeeping both in hard and soft copies.
Provide auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual and interim, internal and external audits.
Review billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy.
Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books timely and accurately.
Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. Handle petty cash, deposit cash and cheques.
Ensure statutory compliance as well as internal and external financial and accounting policies and procedures compliance.
Prepare, process, and file monthly tax payments and statutory reports, including electronic data encoding and filing.
Verify accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions on weekly basis by giving due attention to details.
Assist in preparing provisional financial statements and producing budget according to schedule.
Assist in setting up a cost price for imported / purchased goods based on the provided documents.
Assist in verifying month-end closing process and payment schedule follow ups.
Assist in preparing periodic balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
Liaise with other functions of the company as necessary.
Take on other related tasks and responsibilities as needed to ensure the overall company success.
Location: This role is based in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.
Timing: November 2023
Remuneration: Salary is competitive and will depend on applicant’s background and experience.
Successful applicants have strong problem-solving skills, are flexible and imaginative, are high energy, persistent, self-starters, detailoriented, curious to learn more about everything, good communicators in writing and verbally, and will preferably have a proven track record of executing on deliverables. Applicants could demonstrate this by having:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required.
At least 2 years of work experience as junior accountant, finance assistant, finance officer or similar role.
Good knowledge of accounting principles, general financial accounting, and practice with Ethiopia tax law.
Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions).
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central).
Organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in English & Amharic.
