Job Description

Roha Medical Campus PLC (RMC) is building an integrated health campus in Addis Ababa. When complete, it will provide world-class, high-quality, affordable healthcare across multiple hospitals and facilities. The campus will be set in a lush, green setting, built to the highest sustainability standards, and with a beautiful urban park open to the public. Development of the campus has begun, and construction is underway.

About the role

RMC is seeking a Communications and Marketing Coordinator to support the successful development of Roha Medical Campus’ brand presence in Ethiopia and throughout the world. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a meaningful and impactful company that will improve the lives of millions of people in Ethiopia and Africa. As a coordinator, the individual will work closely with the Communications Director to build and execute the communication and marketing strategy. RMC is still in the building phase and there is a great opportunity to gain mentorship, learn new skills, and grow as a communications professional.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the implementation of the communications and marketing strategy, both offline and digital, by supporting the communications department in liaising with members of the RMC team, members of the public, and potential partners.

  • Leverage previous and current work experience, knowledge, and perspective to inform the RMC communications and marketing strategy.

  • Contribute to RMC’s presence on various digital marketing and communication channels, including:

  • Work closely with the communications team to build the content calendar;

  • Draft content for social media profiles including copywriting, artwork, photo editing, and video editing as required in the content calendar;

  • Support the maintenance of social media profiles including reviewing posts to ensure quality of posts (e.g., correct tagging, lack of typos, posted across platforms, etc.).

  • Coordinate outputs, timing, and communication with relevant external consultants/firms to implement the communications and marketing plans. Responsibilities may include supporting the development of terms of references (ToRs), interviewing external consultants/firms, coordinating schedules for meetings, keeping track of time spent, and supporting the deliverable of outputs.

  • Lead the translation of various communications deliverables in Amharic and other relevant languages (i.e. email, blog, social media, press release, presentation, etc.).

  • Monitor different media and digital platforms for topics and news articles of relevance to RMC.

  • Gather data from RMC’s on-line and off-line communication channels and prepare regular performance reports.

  • Support the planning and coordination of RMC events through leveraging public relations strategies including print media, digital media, press releases, press conferences, photography, and video, etc.

  • Work closely with external partners, agencies, and/or consultants to execute various events.

  • Leverage existing media relationships and network connections to support the delivery of events.

  • Support desktop data collection for market research

  • Support the content creation and development of all relevant brand assets, this may include videos such as corporate training videos, documenting company events, documenting construction progress, etc.

  • Take on other related tasks and responsibilities as needed to ensure the overall company success.

Location: This role is based in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.

Timing: November 2023

Remuneration: Salary is competitive and will depend on applicant’s background and experience.

About the candidate

  • Successful applicants have strong problem-solving skills, are flexible and imaginative, are high energy, persistent, self-starters, detail- oriented, curious to learn more about everything, good communicators in writing and verbally, and will preferably have a proven track record of executing on deliverables. Applicants could demonstrate this by having:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in a role that combines marketing, communications, and public relations. Preference given to applicants who have worked with an agency.

  • Preference given to candidates with a degree in communications, marketing, business, laws, economics, or other related fields.
