About the role

  • As we are starting a new exciting project together with the “Green Innovation Center (GIC)” in the Oromia and Amhara region, we need to expand our team with two project officers (one in the Oromia and one in the Amhara region).

  • The one year project is focused to support MSMEs active in the regions through a “SME Business Loop” approach. The “SME Business Loop” is a systematic capacity development measure for providing structured training and coaching support to MSMEs in the regions in order to increase the income and employment of women and youth enterprises. The participating enterprises are active within input supply, production, marketing, processing, transport and focused on any of the following prioritised areas; wheat, legume, and honey.

  • As a project officer, you will be crucial in the implementation of the project. You will be a key person in the implementation of the RFC incubator program that will include activities for 50 MSMEs each split into two regions; Amhara & Oromia.

Main Responsibilities

Project planning support:

  • Assist in the execution and implementation of Reach for Change’s overall projects in Ethiopia.

  • Arranging and assisting of workshop, rapid assessments, boot camps, training, coaching sessions and other events; contribute to the design and preparation of training materials; attendance list, etc.

  • support for external local training consultants and coaches; scheduling program meetings with partners etc.

  • Support the development and maintenance of project plans, timelines, and budgets

  • Assist in the search and selection process of running competitions to find high-potential entrepreneurs

  • Help identify and evaluate high potential entrepreneurs actively involved in the delivery of a strong Entrepreneurial Bootcamp, innovation lab and other programs , ensuring all participants have the support they need.

  • Execute and organize program activities, including; organize training, and coaching sessions; provide support for external local training consultants and coaches.

  • Facilitating effective communication between project stakeholders, scheduling meetings, and providing administrative support as needed.

Documentation, Reporting & Data Collection::

  • Compiling and maintaining project documentation, progress reports, and ensuring accuracy in data collection.

  • Contribute to the design and preparation of training materials; ensure collection of documentation and information (report, attendance list, photo, material, etc.)

  • Adaptation, translation and development of training material

  • Support the impact team with collection and quality assurance of impact data in your region. This includes being a part of creating a baseline database

  • Contribute to program reports including weekly reports, quarterly reports and other program reports and work plan

Resource & Risk Management:

  • Assisting in resource allocation, tracking, and ensuring resources are available as per project requirements.

  • Identifying potential risks, issues, and assisting in implementing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.

  • Support the manager in dealing with any other tasks as may be required.

Other responsibilities:

  • Contribute to efforts to share best practice, ideas and experience regarding successful fundraising and partner collaborations.

  • Contribute to ‘One Reach for Change’ by promoting a collaborative culture and efficient sharing of resources across all Reach for Change teams.

  • Responsibility to build and retrain your own knowledge about the field of social entrepreneurship and innovation.

  • If necessary, and under periods of intense workload; help and support the rest of the organization to achieve team and organizational objectives.

REPORTING TO: Project Manager

COMMITMENT: 100%

DURATION: 1 year

REMUNERATION: USD 1.000 Monthly Basic Salary

Education & experience:

We expect you to tick of some of the below:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience from similar positions in international development.

  • A university degree in a relevant field.

  • Experience from work within the philanthropic/non-profit or business sector.

  • Qualified experiences in business training and coaching preferably for MSMEs

  • Proven experience with adult learning and group facilitation

  • Excellent training capacity and report writing skills

  • Excellent command of English and Amharic languages

  • Experience of working with M&E in projects where the beneficiaries are children, including training and supporting others in M&E

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

  • Understanding of project management methodologies and best practices is a plus.

  • Previous experience in a similar role or in project coordination/administration is advantageous.

  • Knowledge in early childhood care and development

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office/Google Suite and ability to quickly understand and use web based applications and platforms.
