Job Description
Our company – Yetem Trading PLC has been engaged in trading business since 1983 E.C. and owned a cosmetics house that supplies and distributes different brands. Yetem Trading has its extensive customers base from all over Ethiopia, and has created an assortment of collections that has gained it’s reputation to be the leading name in the cosmetics sector.
Currently we are investing to establish a manufacturing unit of personal care cosmetics and plastic. The company owns 5000 Sqm plot manufacturing facility in Sheger City Administration which is at 4 km North of Addis Ababa at specific place called Sululta. We installed technologically advanced machines and we are on the verge of starting production.
Position # 01
Required posts: 1 Major Duties
Prepare, planning, directing and controlling the company's EHS activities; follow up the implementation of EHS AND SAFETY policies and procedures.
Assist in the implementation of risk assessment and proposes operational controls, conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis and action plan formulation.
Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and shortcomings minimized and corrected, maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements; assist in the control of legal requirements (licenses, reports),
Assess and Identify safety and environmental hazardous and report with remedial proposal; implement waste management programs; follow emission smokes, dust and gas to air,
Set minimum programs and procedures in line with EHS AND SAFETY standards; Develop emergency response plan, produce KPI action plan and performance reports.
Formulate policies and procedures to implement health and safety practice and ensure that these comply with the law.
Conduct risk assessments and high light the areas of potential risk that must reduce or mitigate the same.
Train all employees about health and safety procedures and also give proper training on the particular risks in their area of work, and how they can prevent these.
Conduct frequent safety inspections and checks especially important for things like electrical equipment and equipment used for working at height.
Develop and implement Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to make all employees aware of the benefits of PPE and ensure that they receive adequate PPE.
Develop a correct procedure for reporting accidents and make sure all employees aware of the correct reporting procedure and ensure that they know how to properly report accidents.
Respond to any safety complaints and concerns raised by employees. You should investigate their claims and put plans in place to remove the danger.
Take responsibility for first aid procedures, including employee first aid training.
Ensure company’s compliance with all relevant environmental standards and regulations.
Manage emergency procedures, such as fire alarm drills.
Design and implement Environment policies and procedures as per the regulation of the regulatory body.
Ensure compliance with the standards of environment regulation and work as a focal person for the company in the face of the regulatory bodies.
Facilitate the maintenance and management of environmental health, safety and well-being through systems, audit/ inspection and the establishment of high standards and expectations on employees of service excellence and safety awareness behaviors / performance.
To maintain an Integrated Management System audit programme for Health & Safety and environmental standards and to ensure that all units are audited every 6 months.
To report on the performance of the IMS system at Management review meetings, and use this as a forum for any improvements.
Advise on matters relating to the Environment and Health and Safety at work including the obligations and responsibilities of managers and employees; and provide comprehensive and practical advice to managers on best practice.
Ensures, in accordance with the Company guidelines, the implementation, updating, review and auditing of the Company HSE Systems.
Monitors the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment System procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in Legislation and Company Directives.
Conducts safety audits both internal and external.
Takes part in accident / incident investigation.
Carries out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
Conducting investigations into accidents or near misses to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective action
Recommending equipment upgrades to ensure it is safe to use
Work Station: Sheger City Very closer to Entoto Park
BA/BSc Degree in occupational health & science, Environmental health Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related field
3-4 years for Bachelor holders in safety environment or health Experience in Water Bottle factory or Experience in SSD, Chemical Industries and Cosmetics factory is plus.
