Project Context and Main Purpose of the Job  

Unilever/AIF is a partnership that embarks on a mutually benefiting business winning opportunity that brings the strength of the two organizations to enter in to manufacturing of nutrition products into the Ethiopian market. The role of the project manager is to be the central point of contact that develops, leads and implement agreed up on works streams between the two organisations to make sure the project lands on time and in full. The role has overall responsibility for: 

  • Work closely with legal contracting teams to make sure both teams closely work together to land the joint contract and makes sure project is run in line with the agreed-up contract and flag any changes or challenges.    

  • Work closely with the product innovation teams to make sure mixes are ready for launch per agreed timelines.  

  • Work with External relations team to make sure the overall external engagements are kept aligned and streamlined. Report back to the steer committee   

  • Project manager will work closely with the operation, construction, and sourcing teams being the focal person in the ground to unlock government, banks, and related operations to speed up and deliver the factory in the agreed sight and location on the agreed timelines.   

  • The project manager will engage with designated partners and internal team members that will focus on working on regenerative agriculture and Purpose to make sure the project gets desired attention and support from key stakeholder both internal and external.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE 

  • ​​Leads for timely delivery of the project. 

  • ​Manage changes vis-à-vis volatile external circumstance both from a regulatory point of view as well as complexity of the project scope. 

  • ​Responsible for securing the desired permission and licenses for the smooth landing of the project as required from respective regulatory bodies. 

  • ​Deliver the desired funding and attention for the project working with internal steer co and external funding partners that will enhance the impact of the project.  

  • ​Be the front and single point of contact for the project managing stakeholders across both partnering organizations as well as external partners and regulatory bodies.  

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED 

  • Project management skills 

  • Understanding of Ethiopia regulatory landscape   

  • Experience in the FMCG sector  

  • Understanding of the Ethiopian investment law 

  • Understanding of manufacturing in Ethiopia and operations in Industrial parks  

  • Affluent with lay of the land of the financial sector in Ethiopia.  

Experiences & Qualifications 

  • ​​10+ years’ experience with at least 5 years plus in the manufacturing sector  

  • ​Proven experience in developing and implementing projects of various natures.

  • ​Proven project and budget management experience 

  • ​The ideal incumbent would have worked on delivering one or more projects related to setting up of manufacturing site that involved end to end coordination from leasing land to ribbon cutting of a full-fledged operational site.
