Job Description
Three Roots International /TRI/ is registered as a Foreign Non-Profit Organization by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO), under Registration No. 4931. The mission of TRI is to cultivate community development and economic capacity by empowering families through education, health, and income generating activities. Through our integrated focus on these three dimensions of life, we strengthen families for flourishing futures. Currently, TRI operates its program in Oromia Regional State, East Showa Zone, Bishoftu City Administration, Gandgorba Kebele. The Babogaya Primary School Director is primarily responsible for overseeing all higher-level operations in the school, creating a safe learning environment, and setting performance goals both for students and teachers. The BPS Director should have passion for developing teachers’ and students’ capabilities, and for growing a quality education program in a resource-limited environment. It is a position of leadership and administration with a focused role on motivating and supporting personnel to strive for superior performance so as to provide the best possible opportunities for students’ growth and development, both educationally and personally. The director is responsible to supervise teachers and education staff, keep track of students' performance, and ensure that school facilities remain safe and secured. Thus, the school director's responsibilities include setting performance objectives for students and teachers, implementing and monitoring school policies and safety protocols, and overseeing administrative tasks of the school.
Oversee day-to-day school operations
Manage school logistics and budgets
Set learning goals for students and teachers based on national curricula
Monitor and report on teacher performance
Present data from school performance to organization management
Research new resources and techniques to improve teaching
Interview and hire school personnel or teachers with the hiring team
Review and implement school policies
Provide guidance and counseling to teachers
Handle emergencies and school crises
Organize school events and assemblies
Ensure a safe and clean environment for students (e.g., implementing hygiene rules and COVID procedures)
Attend conferences and workshops to gain knowledge on current educational trends
Assist the Project Manager in preparing an action plan for each program activities;
Conduct needs assessment of BPS, students and families;
Facilitate the distribution of school supplies, resources to the school communities;
Assist the Project Manager in organizing workshops and trainings based on the school’s needs;
Prepare field reports or summary reports, and submit to the Project Manager in a timely manner;
Collect, update, organize, store and retrieve data of BPS;
Work closely with the project team to ensure that all planned activities are dealt with according to the action plan;
Respond promptly to any internal queries related to all school activities;
Mentor, provide support and feedback for school staff in areas of improvement;
Develop and maintain strong relationships with school staff and students, and build a knowledge base of current trends and changes in the school communities;
Document best practices, provide recommendation for work plans, and annual reviews;
Assist in monitoring process and evaluation of activities, including financial performances of the school;
Participate in zonal and woreda performance and mid-term and annual review meetings;
Assist the Project Manager in preparing quarterly progress reports and annual reports;
Provide timely and accurate reports to all concerned parties;
Supervise, coach, train and evaluate performance of school staff under her/his supervision;
Perform other duties as required.
School Director Skills: BPS Directors need the following skills in order to be successful:
Leadership: BPS Director needs to have strong leadership skills, as he/she is often the highest-ranking administrator in the school. He/she has to make executive decisions, delegate tasks and motivate his/her staff.
Communication: BPS Director communicates with many people on a daily basis, including parents, students, teachers, and other school staff. Effective communication skills can help him/her convey information clearly and answer questions in a timely manner. He/she can also use communication skills to build relationships with others, which can help him/her collaborate on solving problems.
Collaboration: Collaboration is the ability to work with others to achieve a common goal. The BPS director needs to collaborate with faculty, parents and other school staff to ensure that the school is operating effectively. Collaboration is also important when working with students to develop a learning plan that meets their needs.
Decision-making: The BPS Director makes important decisions throughout the day, including those that affect the school’s curriculum. School director who is skilled in decision-making can make informed choices that benefit the school and its students.
Problem-solving: BPS Director oversees the operations of an entire school, including departments, staff members and school safety and security. As such, it’s important for him/her to be able to identify and solve problems related to student behavior, staff management and other challenges. Having strong problem-solving skills can help them find solutions that work for their school and its students.

Required Qualification, Experience & Skills:
BA Degree in Educational Management and Planning or Education Leadership or Any field of Education Disciplines in Teaching,
12 years and above of relevant school managing and design, implementation, coordination and education management experience.
Has excellent MS Office application skills including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Access, MS-Power point, etc.
Proficiency in English, Afan Oromo and Amharic languages;
Proven team building, management and motivation experience
Demonstrated ability to manage staff locally and from distance
Proven coordination and time management skills
Proven communication and negotiation skills.
