The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
The Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) Division in AHRI run several projects in collaboration with local and international organizations. To create a conducive ground for national and international laboratory quality accreditation and bridge the division with the local and foreign procurement staff, field, and laboratory supplies inventory management, the MNTD Division would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Junior Researcher (Laboratory Logistics and Quality Assurance) for the projects within the Malaria Team.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards for laboratory management and quality assurance.
2. Monitor the lab quality practices and store operations to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
3. Prepare laboratory SOPs, update the existing ones and follow up its proper implementation
4. Update, revise, and maintain the Laboratory's Quality Assurance Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, and other quality documents in the laboratory
5. Supervise continuous recording of lab log book of each lab activity
6. Manage all aspects of the laboratory store, including inventory management, procurement, and storage of laboratory supplies.
7. Implement and maintain efficient systems for tracking inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock counts, and minimizing waste.
8. Oversee the logistics process, including receiving and distributing laboratory supplies to various teams within the department and field teams.
9. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate favourable pricing terms and ensure timely delivery of supplies.
10. Ensure the smooth running of the laboratory store while maintaining strict adherence to quality assurance protocols.
11. Procurement order processing and follow up the import of laboratory supplies and equipment with the procurement team.
12. Ensure the laboratory supplies and equipment quantities are as per the order list when stock in and report to the concerned project coordinator when there is a deviation between actual quantity and order list
13. Follow up lab equipment regular calibration status, make ready equipment’s and communicate for calibration, document the calibration results and ensure the calibration correction factor implementing.

Required qualifications and work experience
Education: A Bachler Degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Technology
Work experience:
- Zero year work experience
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory management practices, quality assurance protocols, and inventory control procedures will have an advantage
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with various stakeholders effectively.
- Proficiency in using computer software applications relevant to inventory management systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Other Competencies
· Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel
· Fluency in English communication (spoken & written)
· Willingness to be multi-tasked in logistics and inventory management and lab quality management
