POSITION: Executive Housekeeper

SUMMARY: 

As Executive Housekeeper, you’ll administer all housekeeping and all laundry facilities and ensure secure environments for all guests; Ensure that the highest standards for cleanliness, safety and sanitation are maintained throughout the hotel; ensure that guest requests are responded to promptly; ensure a consistently clean, orderly, and attractive environment within guest rooms and public spaces. Manage and coordinate the resources, tasks, requirements, systems, and processes related to housekeeping and laundry operations. 

N.B.: This position description intends to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by this position. The incumbent may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this summary.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

A. People  

  • Direct everyday activity, plan and assign work, ensuring you always have the correct staffing numbers. 

  • Develop your team, improve their performance through coaching and feedback, and create performance and development goals for colleagues. 

  • Train colleagues to make sure they deliver with compliance and to the standards we expect. 

  • Drive a great working environment for teams to thrive - linking up departments to create a sense of one team. 

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. 

  • Recommend or initiate any HR-related actions where needed. 

B. Guest Experience 

  • Make sure all Rooms, Public Areas and Laundry equipment are operational. 

  • Ensure all Room and Public Area facilities are clean and Room amenities are adequately stocked to anticipated business volume. 

  • Notify Engineering immediately of any maintenance and repair needs and closely follow up till it is closer. 

  • Conduct daily walk-throughs and quality checks to drive cleanliness, productivity, efficiency, exceptional service, and guest satisfaction at all points of contact.

  • Analyse guest insights to identify and meet customer expectations and build on guest loyalty. 

  • Regularly communicate with guests to ensure expectations are met. 

C. Responsible Business

  • Perform regular market surveys for all new products and suppliers and supervise all horticultural requirements.

  • Analyse all competition businesses and plan all schedules for spring cleaning and pest control and perform regular audits on same and ensure compliance to all loss and found procedures.

  • Other ad-hoc duties in unexpected moments we must pull together to complete a task.

  • May also serve as the manager on duty.

D. Financial

  • Help prepare and meet the hotel’s annual budget and the setting of departmental goals. 

  • Monitor budget and control operational expenses and labor costs. 

  • Make sure credit and financial transactions are handled securely. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A Minimum of BA Degree in Hotel Management, Food and Beverage Service, Hotel Operation, Restaurant Management, Hotels and Tourism Management, Cooperative Business Management, Property Management Management, Management, Marketing Management or any related field of study from a recognized TVET/College/university with a minimum 9 years' work experience on similar areas at catering production/Operation/front desk/office area, etc...

OR

  • MA Degree in Hotel Management, Food and Beverage Service, Hotel Operation, Restaurant Management, Hotels and Tourism Management, Cooperative Business management /Property Management Management, Management, Marketing Management or any related field of study from a recognized TVET/College/university with a minimum 7 years work experience on similar areas at catering production/Operation/front desk/office area, etc...
