Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation (ECDSWCo.) is transforming and diversifying from the current consultancy business operations. Taking advantage of the existing ECDSWCo.’s strength and maximizing on the newly emerging external opportunities that are being prevalent with the shifts in Ethiopian Economic Policy – the Corporation is aiming to play a significant role to the success of the Ethiopian Construction Industry -by creating a vibrant business institution that will not only fill the gap that is in the current construction industry, but also replace the need for having international construction companies that are dominating the government mega scale projects.
To this, the Corporation is emerging as an Engineering and Investment Group. The proposed name of the Group is ‘’Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG)’’. The Group will comprise of three main operational business units i.e., Consultancy, Construction and Investment.
EEIG-Construction business unit key activities are high-end complex construction projects, predominately high-rise commercial and residential buildings, real-estate; infrastructure (roads, railways and airports) & water and energy sector construction. EEIG-Construction alone would grow into a conglomerate of several business units including Piling, underground and foundation Works, Fit-Out, Energy (Solar Solutions), Electro- Mechanical Solution, Facility Management, Landscape and Construction Materials Production.
EEIG Construction is launched with the vision of being the best construction company in Ethiopia with a strategy of Timeously executing high-end complex projects, by utilizing proactive management skills as a Design and Build Contractor in order to achieve an optimum return and aspiring to be a competitive and preferred choice that can replace the current dependence on international contractors and deliver excellence. EEIG Construction will uphold Courage, Integrity, Reliability, Value for its People and Innovation as its core values.
Position Overview/Scope of role:
The job holder will evaluate financial and investment information, typically for the purpose of making buy, sell and hold recommendations for Fixed Assets, Securities, Subsidiaries…etc. The role will involve supplying essential data for informed decision-making within our organization.
Top Roles and Responsibilities:
· Monitor incoming and outgoing cash flows, analyze project milestones and payment schedules, and assess cash flow projections to ensure sufficient liquidity and optimize funding strategies.
· Establish financial targets for the projects.
· Assess the financial risks connected to projects, including contract-related risks, delays, and cost increases. Evaluate these risks, create strategies to mitigate them, and offer recommendations to effectively manage and minimize financial risks.
· Assist in the analysis of bid proposals and contract agreements. review project bids, conduct financial due diligence, assess profitability, and provide insights to support effective decision-making in selecting projects.
· Compile advisory reports and provide well-informed recommendations regarding new investment opportunities and funds.
· Create advanced financial models and analyze legal documents.
· Evaluate historical and current financial data to understand the company’s financial condition.
· Generate financial reports, including project financial statements, performance metrics, and profitability analysis. Financial analysts provide insights on project financial performance, cost variances, and profitability trends to support management decision-making.
· Analyze and evaluate capital expenditure projects, such as equipment purchases or facility expansions. Assess the financial viability, returns on investment, and payback periods of capital projects to support investment decisions.
· Construct financial models and perform scenario analysis to assess the financial consequences of different project scenarios.
· Evaluate capital expenditures and depreciation
· Providing financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making in the construction company.
· Facilitate and manage loan arrangements for the acquisition and construction of buildings and infrastructure.
· Oversee and maintain all interactions and partnerships with lenders and lessors.
· Handle and manage the company's short and long-term loan affairs.
· Provide Financial Risk Report.
· Analyze and evaluate economic and market trends, earnings prospects, financial statements, and a range of indicators and factors to identify appropriate investment
· Identify critical areas of business performance for other stakeholders.
· Analyze previous investment decisions and generating key takeaways.
. Report discrepancies and issues to senior management when they arise
Critical role to be successful in this role :
· Proficiency in financial analysis techniques, such as ratio analysis, financial modeling, and valuation methods.
· A strong foundation in accounting principles and practices is crucial to understand financial statements, perform accurate financial analysis, and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
· Advanced Excel skills and Familiarity with financial analysis software, data visualization tools, and databases is also advantageous.
· Proficiency in assessing financial risks, such as market risks, credit risks, or operational risks, and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
· A solid understanding of business operations, industry dynamics, and macroeconomic factors.
· Keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
· Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
· Presentation skill.
· Staying updated on industry trends, new financial tools, regulations, and best practices is crucial to maintain relevance and enhance expertise.
