Job Description

Kurmuk Gold Mine Plc (KGM) is a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp which is a global company with offices in Dubai, UAE and Perth, Australia and has different mine projects in Mali, cote d'ivoire as well as Ethiopia. KGM is the Ethiopian project with a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and three contiguous Exploration Licenses. All licenses are located in western Ethiopia approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa, or about 90 km north-west of Assosa town in Benishangul Gumuze Regional State.

KGM has been using foreign consultants and local professional support staff to carry out all the exploration and mining activities. The company currently has created job opportunity for more than 200 Ethiopians and expects to employ 1,500 people during the construction and operation of the mining activities.

Summary

KGM would like to invite competent, energetic, and qualified applicants for the following vacancy announcement.

 Job Summary: -

Assess patients' conditions and provide emergency medical care, including Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and basic primary health care.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency calls such as sudden illness, accidents (automobile, industrial, etc.), building collapses and natural disasters.

  • Lead and coordinate the team responding to an emergency.

  • Evaluate the patient’s condition on the scene and perform preliminary diagnosis.

  • Attend to injuries or sudden illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital simple and advanced treatments (Defibrillation, intubation and ventilation, fluid resuscitation)

  • Ability to conduct assessments/tests on critical care equipment such as defibrillator, ventilator, oxygen cylinders etc.

  • Use appropriate equipment and tools to extricate patients from vehicles, rubble, or accident scene, stabilize patients and provide immediate treatment.

  • Provide emergency medical care and or transport the patients to the required hospital or other medical facilities for further medical care as appropriate.

  • Educate the workforce on health and safety issues.

  • Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety standards.

  • Keep abreast of new treatment and medical procedures through continuous training.

  • Write and submit concrete and accurate reports on incidents.

  • Other tasked assigned by the immediate line manager.

General

Terms of Employment: Permanent after probation period.

Salary: Negotiable & Attractive (Industry related & adequately compensated for the location).

Duty Station: - Benshangul Gumuz, Asosa Zone, Kurmuk Woreda Project Site - Fly In/Fly out roster (6/2weeks)

Job Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification as Emergency Medical Technician; Must be a Licensed Paramedic

  • Current accredited qualification in ATLS (Advance Trauma Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

  • Proven experience as a paramedic with 3+ years of experience in same position or related.

  • Remote site experience in the mining industry is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, and medications

  • Ability to stay calm and make the right decisions in adverse conditions

  • Adaptable with a great deal of stamina

  • Excellent working knowledge of medical equipment and devices

  • Integrity and compassion towards human pain

  • Having valid driver’s license is a requirement.

  • Excellent skill in writing and speaking of English and Amharic languages.

  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.

  • Keen attention to detail.
