Job Description
Ipas is a non-profit making organization working to improve women’s lives by focusing on improving access to information and services to basic sexual and reproductive health across the globe. Since the year 2000, Ipas Ethiopia has been collaborating with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs) and various local and international partners to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity resulting from unwanted pregnancy and unsafe abortion.
In light of the need to strengthen our relationship with stakeholders and expedite programme implementation, we are planning to hire the following position:-
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Communication Advisor is responsible to support Ipas Ethiopia in developing and executing organizational communication strategy; managing Ipas Ethiopia website and social media outlets; developing various communication materials; coordinating important events; enhancing Ipas Ethiopia’s branding and visibility. He/she will be based in Addis Ababa and expected to travel to regions as required.
Lead the development of comprehensive communication strategy in line with the organization’s strategic direction and plan.
Manage/administer Ipas Ethiopia’s website and social media pages/accounts. The advisor is expected to update the website on regular bases, collect feedbacks/information from website visitors and compile for use/decision by management team; develop and post messages, initiate discussion on Ipas Ethiopia’s social media pages
Coordinate and lead the development of various promotional and educational materials for Ipas visibility and improvement of Ipas programs
Coordinate Ipas Ethiopia’s program review meetings, staff engagement sessions and other knowledge sharing and brainstorming events as required
Take notes and minutes of various meetings and workshops conducted by Ipas Ethiopia
Establish relationship and work with journalists and media organizations
Promote Ipas visibility and branding using various communication means
Document stories and maintain digital media archives (photos, videos) from Ipas Ethiopia program implementations and events
Write, edit and distribute various types of contents, including material for website, press releases, program and other types of content that take the message to the public
Scan the activities of opposition groups from social /mainstream media, publications, events etc and communicate with senior management team
Report to: Senior Policy Advisor
Grade: Expert
Terms of employment: One year with possibilities for extension

Key skills and qualifications
BA degree in Information Technology, Journalism, or Public Relations or other related fields
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in communication, and IT fields in nongovernmental organizations
Conversant with computer and IT such as website management and social media outlets
Excellent skills on Microsoft publisher, photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator
Innovative/creative, excellent communicator
Interested, capable and willing to travel to project sites and document stories, videos and pictures/photos
Fluency in spoken and written English
