Job Description

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

The Deputy Secretary General is accountable to the Secretary General and he/she is responsible for coordinating and overseeing working units engaged in facilitating and supporting operations of the institution in view of ensuring efficiency. Thus, the Deputy Secretary General:-

  • Under the supervision of the Secretary General, Plans, organizes, directs, supervises and administers the Research & Advocacy, Trade and Investment Promotion, Organizational Support Services, Communication & PR activities, the private sector capacity building wing-Chamber Academy and ICT service functions of the Chamber;

  • Organizes and coordinates membership development supports & communications functions;

  • Leads and coordinates functions aimed to reflect & present the views of the business community on legislative, policy and strategy issues using the various medium of communication;

  • Manage events, in bound & out bound missions and internal & external communications;

  • Manage financial, HR and property administration functions of the Chamber;

Knowledge on:-

  • Private sector and private sector related government policies;

  • The Ethiopian Chamber system /How it organizes & operates/;

  • Research & development of business barriers;

  • The local business & investment opportunities;

  • The international business environment and

  • Well informed on HR, financial & property management;

Competencies/Personal attributes

  • Demonstrate commitment to the vision, mission, core values, aims and principles of ECCSA.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster trust and respect.

  • Being self-motivated and highly organized.

  • Being flexible and able to work well under pressure.

  • Having ability to work with others as a team.

  • Language – Fluency in spoken & written English.

  • Leadership – Organization management skill.

Job Requirement

  • Qualification: MA/MBA/BA degree in Management/ Economics/ International  Trade or related fields;

  • Experience: 9/11 years of relevant private sector support related work experience   out of which 4/5 years in Managerial Positions of which 3 years in Chamber of Commerce & related organizations
